That is insane. Beck isnāt even a draftable QB. Wow. What a grift.
Iām wondering whoās the new sugar daddy for the Canes:
BTW, all the NIL figures I see for Beckās girlfriend Hanna Cavinder include the latterās twin sister Haley. Most recent Iām finding there is $2M for the U hoopsters.
Bigger question - would a Congressional fix survive the inevitable legal challenges?
That proposed bill is better than the chaos we have today. Not perfect but a start to reining this in.
FWIW, that Illinois bill, as written, would apply to academic scholarships only so wouldnāt amount to much, if anything. Gotta wonder whatās the purpose beyond giving the impression that the sponsor is doing something when in reality he isnāt. In other words, basic politics!
This bill is an abomination.
What does NIL earnings have to do with academic scholarships?
This would be nothing more than a taking of or forced reduction of earnings.
How is that legal or ethical?
If you are earning NIL money pay for your own education. I like reducing the scholarship value based on your NIL income. Donors and students shouldnāt be covering that.
Yep, itās political posturing. Not going to change anything and the billās sponsor knows that.
The bill targets academic scholarships not athletic scholarships.
Academic scholarships are earned by previous academic success.
Has nothing to do with athletics.
Ahh donāt catch that - well itās how it should work with athletic ones
See that University of Illinois Champaign-Urbana is phasing out its $35 per semester athletic facilities student fee, which contributes less than 2% annually to the Illiniās AD coffers. So makes that proposed NIL bill even more meaningless.
If we removed student fees from Supporting football and men basketball I wouldnāt have near the issue I do with NIL. Environment still sucks but I wouldnāt have the ethical issues I have it now.
If we removed student fees our budget would be cut roughly in half and itās already too low.
clt says wow, a facebook group!!!
Yup. It is too low, I just canāt rectify charging students fees while athletes are making money. Iāve felt less dirty walking out of a strip club.
