This really shows how crazy things are. Politicians going to require a school to hire an AD with five years minimum experience in an area that’s existed for only 3 1/2.

clt expects bama to end k-12 school funding to provide more NIL for the tide

Corruption. Pure and simple.

This is an example of why people hate the government and why there is going to be a serious backlash against the benefits, advantages and frankly the coddling of today’s college athletes.

I’ve really enjoyed college sports over the years - mostly Charlotte. The greatest appeal for me has been the purity of the game without the ridiculous"pay to play." It use to be an amateur sport and played for all the right reasons. We use to be relevant in basketball and I use to feel confident we would return in 1 of our 2 main sports. Most of that hope it’s now gone (but does not have to be). There are things we can do to be relevant. It just does not appear to be worth the effort.

I lost all interest in pro sports for all the same reasons associated with the recent changes taking place at the college level. It destroys the team approach and focuses on self.

Due to the rewards coming from Name Image and Likeness (NIL), players are now focused on themselves; team be damned. They play for themselves, will sit out bowl games and conference tournaments to save themselves for next year’s team that will be writing them a bigger check, or simply play selfishly to draw attention with no loyalty to their current program.

It’s always been pay to play. They have gotten scholarships forever. They are just getting paid more now.

I have zero problem with pro sports. It’s a free market and an entertainment product.

If you want purity of sport it’s probably at normal public high schools, club sports, maybe some D3 college etc.

For the most part, our university has no true desire to be winners, especially with NIL. Our leaders appear to be more self-interested as well, satisfied receiving a healthy check, being subservient to the UNC System Board of Governors, having minimal interest in doing what is in the overall best interest of the University of Charlotte, and influenced by a culture of just being OK. "Average is the enemy of great and requires a lot less work and effort. "

Just keep your head down, do the minimal amount to keep your job, and you will have a very nice life at Charlotte. Why set the bar higher than required?

I’m losing all interest and have no confidence we will do what is required to ever be relevant in any major sport again. We should all demand more!!! The potential at Charlotte is definitely there. The culture and desire us definitely not.

Just ridiculous. Absolutely asinine

Prosports is what it is. College wasn’t that. It is now. As someone who walked away from the NFL and NBA, college sports now embody the worst of those sports without any of the redeeming characteristics that once were a part
Of college sports.

The biggest thing though is I don’t donate to the Panthers or any pro franchise.
