No surprise here.
One of those NCAA dirty little secrets that everyone knew about.
Yeah I think most college sport fans and donors knew scholarships were year to year however there was definitely a recruiting blowback for pulling scholarships on a regular basis. You know back when kids and parents wanted to know they had a home for 3-5 seasons and cared about getting a degree. Also back when having a coach under contract for 4-5 years was needed for recruiting.
Yep, have noticed that 6 year coaching contracts are a thing this cycle. And getting a degree - actually degrees for a number of players - is certainly a thing too as well now. Thought it was interesting that Auburn wore patches on their uniforms signifying if a player was a graduate. Iām not a big fan of Bruce Pearl but no denying that getting a diploma - or two - is important, with Auburn athletes graduating at all time highs of over 90% this decade. And, of course, canāt get any more old school than Kelvin Sampson as concerns the importance of school etc.
Will be interesting to see grad rates in 2-3 years. Basically since this all blew up. Kids hitting 4-5 schools in 4 or 5 years. No way they are on track to graduate unless schools are just passing kids.

Thatās more than most AAC teams budgets. All of them, I think. Memphis has to split theirs with football.
And ātoppingā that - pun intended! ![]()
Some reaction to eastern Washington Congressman Baumgartnerās plan to replace the NCAA with a Presidentially appointed entity to oversee college athletics.
Someone wrote a bill based on the ideas Iāve been repeating as nauseum going on a decade now?
Strongly disagree with Darren.
This is pay to play. They had a chance to set a defacto salary cap, they blew it. This is the next best thing, and the best chance to fix things.
