Donāt know that we have come out and said it directly, but how much has recruiting international players who currently cannot get NIL been part of our recruiting strategy for hoops? How much are we relying on it to be competitive?
I donāt blame them. If the system they created can move fast enough I would just stop using them.
and they could probably sue them out of existence.
To hell with that. I donāt think anyone had moving home games to another state on their wish list.
I hope we never do anything like that. I want the games at home where they are supposed to be.
CSC - we hardly knew ya!
clt says the international players are better now
From a coachās wire I receive:
American Commissioner Tim Pernetti tells The Field of 68ās Jeff Goodman and Rob Dauster that his league is the āmost raided conference in the transfer portal on an annual basis, and itās not a badge of honor. I look at it two ways, which is how do we solve for this? And the other side of it is weāre recruiting the right kind of talent into this league.ā Schools, Pernetti adds, need to find a way to create insurance on these investments. āAnd, by the way, Iāve met with outside insurance firms that are willing to come in and underwrite this risk because they see it as thereās so much transaction in the space thereās money to be made on it. But until a school has more protection on their investment, hereās what happens. Youāre an athletic director, you raise the money, you pay Jeff $500K to come and play and nine months later he leaves for $1M at another school. You have to go re-raise that $500K so you have enough to give it to other players. There needs to be, whether itās a buyout or whether itās a penalty that gets passed forward to the school thatās acquiring that student-athlete ā I donāt think youāre going to be able to sell that one ā but getting into contractual agreements at the high level is where we have to go. And some schools are already doing it.ā
We just canāt compete in a division where 22 mil for a roster is a thing.
Interesting after we appointed Jesh.
Push back from students just going to get louderā¦
Letās hope.
