Don’t know that we have come out and said it directly, but how much has recruiting international players who currently cannot get NIL been part of our recruiting strategy for hoops? How much are we relying on it to be competitive?

I don’t blame them. If the system they created can move fast enough I would just stop using them.

and they could probably sue them out of existence.

To hell with that. I don’t think anyone had moving home games to another state on their wish list.

I hope we never do anything like that. I want the games at home where they are supposed to be.

clt says the international players are better now

From a coach’s wire I receive:

American Commissioner Tim Pernetti tells The Field of 68’s Jeff Goodman and Rob Dauster that his league is the ā€œmost raided conference in the transfer portal on an annual basis, and it’s not a badge of honor. I look at it two ways, which is how do we solve for this? And the other side of it is we’re recruiting the right kind of talent into this league.ā€ Schools, Pernetti adds, need to find a way to create insurance on these investments. ā€œAnd, by the way, I’ve met with outside insurance firms that are willing to come in and underwrite this risk because they see it as there’s so much transaction in the space there’s money to be made on it. But until a school has more protection on their investment, here’s what happens. You’re an athletic director, you raise the money, you pay Jeff $500K to come and play and nine months later he leaves for $1M at another school. You have to go re-raise that $500K so you have enough to give it to other players. There needs to be, whether it’s a buyout or whether it’s a penalty that gets passed forward to the school that’s acquiring that student-athlete – I don’t think you’re going to be able to sell that one – but getting into contractual agreements at the high level is where we have to go. And some schools are already doing it.ā€

We just can’t compete in a division where 22 mil for a roster is a thing.
