College athlete compensation - NIL etc 💰

That’s an impressive number of players and sports represented.

I would love to see stats on how concentrated the money is.

seems like that could be anonymized and shared easily.

Can’t be us. We didn’t have a QB1 at that time.

I’m thinking USF or Memphis???

IMO, we haven’t had a QB1 since the ‘22 season

clt bets oregon will become the new dodgers

Why? Are they afraid voters wont like it?

This is an example of overreach and kowtowing to the athletic industrial complex.

This crap would likely result in a backlash in the future but I think America just loves their college sports too much
After reading the article it seems this may be more of a competitive advantage thing. I suppose that makes some sense but it’s a bad look

Inexcusable with the revenue they have.

Just balance the damn budget!

Buy the Camry. Yeah you want the Highlander fully loaded but you can’t afford it. Buy the freaking Camry and move on.

Rutgers. UConn. UCLA. Etc. Etc…

That was a great read.

It was telling that their AD said nothing about cutting costs but lots about growing revenue.

This seems odd to me.

$46.1 million in coaching salaries, $31 million in support staff and administrator salaries, $23.1 million in scholarship aid, $14.4 million in facilities debt, $13.5 million in team travel and $8.4 million in student-athlete meals.

They spent more in coaching salaries and support/admin staff than all the other categories combined.

Does that make sense?

Rutgers and money has been an issue for decades now. A thread from 2006:

Rutgers and several other smaller schools can’t play in P4 land. Come to G5, the water is warm.

Rutgers has 71,000+ students, so not a small school.

Yeah Rutgers is the state flagship of New Jersey and a very respected university.

this is a case of mismanagement and nothing else

71k or not, they aren’t making the cut when the super league happens

clt adds that rutgers is R1. they should focus on research, not rebounds
