⦠These were among the solutions Jay Bilas offered to @NinerWupAss on Twitter.
He seriously said that.
I guess in his worldview, intercollegiate athletics are only for the blue blood schools. Everyone else should stick to āintramuralsā (another choice quote of his).
Bilas is a blowhard who loves the sound of his own voice. Norlander and Parrish were just being honest about the probable repercussions of the estimated $2.8B settlement of House v NCAA.
Yeah I loved the intramural comment. Either the dude seriously has no clue about the financial situation at non P4 schools or he just doesnāt give a F about anything other than the P4. He seriously acts like he thinks there are plenty of schools outside of the P4 who are getting rich off of college athletes.
FYI for anyone interested - hereās the link to the NCAA Board of Governors membership - 9 voting members and 7 ex-officio non-voting members. NCAA president is listed as ex-officio, but is allowed to vote on those occasions in which there is a tie. Anyway I knew the Baylor U prez is the chair, though her tenure expires soon.
I usually like DeCourcy, but heās living in a fantasy world if he thinks a House v NCAA settlement will insure March Madness (as we know it) has been secured for at least another decade.
Math is hard, but logical. Find a calculator, or just trust me on this: The other 27 conferences are not responsible for 60% (or even half of that) of the damages; 10% of $2.8 billion is $280 million. Thatās what the Other 27 ought to be asked to pay.
But the NCAA, along with the Power 5, want the Other 27 to pay closer to $990 million. And thatās not even the full amount due. More on that in a minute.
Just know this: If the NCAA and Power 5 arenāt stopped, that miscarriage of justice will happen in the next few days.
Bingo! Thank goodness someone in sports media has the balls to say it. My point exactly.
