College Football Playoff 🏆

I know it’s not popular with a lot of people, but I like this idea. Eventually, maybe not too far down the road, I think the G6 will lose the guaranteed playoff spot and I’m pretty sure they will never get more than one. At least this adds something better than meaningless bowl games. Of course with the current climate most of the best players would probably opt out of playing in it to preserve their health for the transfer portal.

I’d rather our champs beat up on mid tier P4 teams.

As I and many others predicted. Conference championship games are gonna be over.

That sucks. Since that’s the only title we really have a shot to win in the future.

I was thinking the same thing. I would feel really good if we could compete for conference championships and occasionally win one. That’s pretty much all I really want or expect us to be able to do. Taking that away really sucks. It sucks for all G6 schools and pretty much everyone except the top of the SEC and B10 who are the only ones with a legitimate shot at a national championship.

Guess I’m showing my age here but I’m old enough to remember when regular season first place finishers were THE conference champions. Not just in football but also in basketball for a majority of leagues. So looks like we may have to win conference football titles the old fashioned way!

Surely there is a way for the G6 to keep their conference games except for the conference that has a shot to get into the playoff.

Surely with a month left in the season you will know if your champ has a shot at the CFP.

let’s take the MAC. Very doubtful they will ever get a team in the playoff. There are just going to drop their championship game?

This is such horse crap and another reason we need a new division.

The biggest difference now is that everyone doesn’t get a chance to play everyone else in the conference. There are too many schools so determining who is the best team is harder to do by that method.

Yep, probably won’t be any perfect way to determine things. Just like now.

The most-discussed 24-team CFP model includes an at-large bracket determined by CFP rankings, an automatic berth for the Group of Six leagues and first-round campus games for seeds 9-24.

I think this means that we will be lucky to get more than 2-3 teams from all of G6 in the playoffs every year. However, if we could figure out how to game the CFP rankings, it could mean a better shot at access.

The Conference championship game has been great at Yulman and for Tulane fans, helps that it has been in a city like New Orleans.

Hopefully they dont disrupt the Conference championship game(s), the momentum it has afforded to Tulane is too much to pass up and the opportunity for other schools as well to capture this momentum.
