As long as they keep real access open so that perhaps even several G6 teams couple make the playoff, then I’m fine with this. The bowls can be appetizers.
Even if they start out with multiple G6 teams, you just know the media drumbeat will immediately shift to limiting spots or play-in games for G6. Remember all the BS about James Madison and Tulane last year losing big, yet by similar margins as Texas tech and Alabama the next round? The media pressure to limit G6 will be intense even when the hypocrisy is blatant.

If this happens, the entirety of college football can go F itself as far as I am concerned. I will quit entirely.
Honestly I’d water go watch college soccer or baseball - still some semblance of being college sports.

There still isn’t an Anti Trust exemption for college sports. Your lawyers are just sitting around, looking for something to do and the biggest case of their career just got served up like a practice softball from Baby Jesus.
Conspiracy to Monopolize (Wave generally at ESPN’s twitter account) + Demonstrable Harm (Show them your athletic budget) = The easiest win of your season.

This 24 team playoff is really getting me down.
This is going to hurt the sport as a whole and really impact the G6.
This is stripping away conference championships which have a history and is meaningful to a lot of people.
I certainly have had hopes for Charlotte to compete in an AAC championship game. That would have been a big deal to me. To travel to that game and enjoy watching our team compete for a title.
With this new plan it strips away 10 championship games. Those are opportunities for 20 teams. Many of which will NOT make the CFP, even in the P4.
By compressing the sport into this playoff we are removing opportunities for big games from a lot of programs. We are chipping away at traditions that make the sport stronger and have helped make it what it is
Instead of 11 titles being competed for now we will have 1. That’s it.
We are moving further away from what makes college sports special.
This sucks.
