The current situation with performance is absolutely on current leaders. The being so far behind a program like Sincy and Lville and Memphis is still and will always be Judyâs legacy.
Maybe so, but yâall act like itâs a given that we would be doing what those guys have done if we had started football 25 years ago.
Thatâs taking a lot for granted and I for one know itâs not that simple.
Absolutely. Our current struggles are indicative that it isnât as easy as just starting a team but look at it this way. If we start football when we should have we would have never met the A10 would have moved along with USF and Memphis and Sincy and worst case scenario would be right where we will be in the AAC. It just took us 15 years to get here all due to one womanâs unwillingness to start football. Now if she started it we would have sucked likely for years as she showed she had no idea what she was doing, but her decision certainly was a strategic mistake that has left us playing catch-up for the last 15 years. We missed years of playing high level basketball and generated a ton more revenue.
This has gotten pretty far off topic. But fwiw I agree with @NinerWupAss here.
For the record, I donât disagree with NWA either. Itâs just time to STFU about Judy, Bobby and what ever happened 15 or 25 years ago and move forward.
We have new people in place for hoops, football and running all our sports now. Sack up and get it done or get gone.
Apologies for mentioning it and getting thread off course - was a tad bitter Saturday seeing what a former conference peer had done.
In regards to expansion - donât think weâre going to see it after what the SEC did in adding Oklahoma/Texas.
Good read from DeCourcy:
I was watching a game on CBS last week and thinking about their color guy, " this guy is about a thousand times better than Herbstreit" KH is the master of pointing out the blindingly obvious when broadcasting a game and making his platitudes sound like some sort of wisdom from on high. Screw him, his opinions, and the horse he rode in on. May he ride out at the first possible moment.
Not surprising - most power 5 honks like Herbstreit are insufferable. I contend that even if a G5 team won 4 true road games against P5 teams and went undefeated in conference they still would not be considered as the committee puppet would scream about âoverall body of workâ or some other crap. It angers me because G5âs donât âreloadâ like the blue bloods and these undefeated seasons are their one chance to really make it special and memorable for their fan base.
Still contend CFP wonât expand after the SEC expansion. I truly believe they donât want to give the G5 a seat at the table for the revenue pie.
The upper tier of the P5 is circling the $$$$moneytrain$$$$ even against their lower tier P5 brethren.
Need that cash for the arms race.
CFB is broken. The SEC CG might as well be the âNCâ
Very foolish on the ACCâs part, how many teams did they have in the playoff this year? Like Sankey said in that yahoo article "âI donât know if anyone has noticed, but weâre doing very well in the current systemâ , the gap between the SEC and the other conferences (except maybe the Big X) will only grow in the four team format.
clt says the acc is going down the drain.
