I think we will be fortunate to even be mentioned on Saturday considering we are playing Southern Miss. Something about playing them that just doesn’t grab national attention.
Would be nice to hear about the game tonight when they are talking about Memphis though.
It’s very true. A win tonight and they will mention us a good bit. They will talk about how we are tied for first and we are coming off a nasty victory over Memphis. I mean . . . we even got publicity when it wasn’t a CUSA game. “Basden for president!”
A win tonight would just $hi+ on their parade Saturday.
Let me take you to ESPN GAMEDAY on Saturday afternoon.
Chris: Good afternoon folks and welcome to the FedEx Forum for the Memphis Edition of College Game Day. Let’s start by talking about these Memphis Tigers. Digger, who knew when we scheduled this stop on our tour of perenial college basketball hotbeds that Coach Cal’s Tigers would be neutered, declawed and toothless before March even arrived.
Digger: Well Chris, if they played with Notre Dame in the Big East with their 16-10 record…
Dukie V: They’d be dancing BAY-BEEEE! Such tradition! Jim Boeheim! Jim Calhoun! Ohhh what magnificent coaches! And don’t forget Hakim Warrick and Diaper Dandy Rudy Gay!
Andy: The only suspense here is which coach will have his hair fall out of place first.
Chris: You should talk, heh, heh.
Digger: Don’t bet against Slick Rick. Hey how about my lime green tie! Am I a fashion plate or what?
Chris: Okay, err…Jay, how did Coach Cal come to be in this position.
Jay: Up until last week, Memphis had played a rugged schedule and by virtue of a recent win over Louisville, had an outside chance at an at-large bid if they continued to take care of business. But the wheels came off on their recent detour off Tobacco Road to #21 ranked Charlotte, led by my pick for Defensive Player of the Year, senior swingman, Eddie Basden, and a focused Curtis Withers, who is finally living up to the preseason mantle of Wooden Award candidate. And lets not forget Brendan Plavich who can just plain shoot the lights out from anywhere this side of the halfcourt line.
Chris: So the noise from these crazed fans you see behind us is sounding pretty hollow here in Memphis.
Andy: I’m not going to sit here all day and hype this game as something meaningful folks. The only question to be answered here today is, will next week’s matchup between Louisville and Charlotte be a battle for sole possession of first place in Conference USA or to borrow Jay’s Tobacco Road analogy, just a speedbump on Bobby Lutz’ 49ers road to the Conference regular season Championship.
Dukie V: Hey Chris, I just saw Matt Doherty walking around here somewhere. Maybe he can cover for me. There’s still time to grab a flight to NY and catch Duke at MSG BAY-BEEEEE!
Digger: That should be a good game. St. Johns is having a great year. Don’t let their 9-15 record fool you. They played Notre Dame close before losing at the buzzer. Did I mention my green tie?
Chris: Don’t go away. After the break, we’ll take you inside the Memphis Tigers basketball program with Memphis Police Detective John Law.
Thats funny, u must have alot of time on your hands lol
:toast: lol Meinshaft.

Dang, mein. You took the time to write all that up. Love it, though.
Gotta’ admit that was pretty damn funny. Well done, Meinshaft.
That is Hall of Fame material. Good work, MeinShaft!
Damn! That was good! I was thoroughly entertained!
EXCELLENT!!! Are you going into screen writing, Meinshaft?
I do a lot of writing for a living and I deal with a lot of characters in my line of work but scripts and actors don’t figure in the mix. Just having a bit of fun.
