Conference Affiliation

If the Big 10 expands, I think they’ll try to woo a Big XII team away (Missouri or Iowa State) and then we’ll see another domino effect.
yeah Syracuse is such a joke of a school.

I wonder why people don’t talk about the Big10 grabbing Kentucky? Maybe I am way out of line, but the rivalry with Indiana, geography, and basketball heritage would make sense.
Would Kentucky really want to leave the SEC?

Going to be back on topic now:

Since ND is Big East in everything in but football they make a logical choice for addition. I am assuming they would want to transition to 12 teams slowly so they would take a second team when they added ND - Navy would make a nice addition and makes sense geographically. That would take the Big east to 10 teams. I would assume they would want to run with 10 teams for at least one season maybe 2. That would give Charlotte a good chance to get their transition done by the time the Big East wants to add the 11th and 12th teams. Central Florida seems to be on the rise and would be a nice match geographical with South Florida.

I think the Big East is a serious probably for Charlotte. Especially if the team can make the playoffs once or twice before the conference looks to expand.
Arkansas was part of the SWC before it became a member of the SEC, so it has stronger ties to the Big 12 region than the SEC historically.
I know. The SWC consisted of Arkansas and all those Texas schools… but not all those Texas schools are in the Big 12 and IMO the SEC is a much better (and wealthier) conference. Maybe I’m wrong.

If ND were to join a conference, which I don’t think they ever will as long as there a BCS and a TV contract, it would be with the Big 10. It not only makes since geographically but would allow for them to continue some of the rivalry games with Michigan, Purdue, Penn State.
Ironic. We were a charter member of the Sun Belt Conference in 1976-77. A conference formed with schools without football in order to showcase their basketball and provide an automatic NCAA bid for the conference tourney champs. Now the SBC has football and teams going to bowls and we’re just now making a serious move toward getting football by 2012. Ironic, indeed.
Drop the “s”, the only team from the SBC that makes the post season is the champion and they get to go to the New Orleans Bowl to play CUSA’s #4 team.

If we were playing in a bowl game last week, in New Orleans against the CUSA #4, and we were Sun Belt football champs, I would guarantee you it would be the 2nd or 3rd largest sporting event in the history of our school.

Well true but I’d rather be that CUSA #4 then the SBC Champion if its all the same.
