Conference Realignment

So that’s saying unc has less tv value than Cu, fsu, miami, louisville, nc state, and vt?

Or is it just excluding them and uva because they’re never going to join the big 12?

UNC-CH and UVA are the ACC schools typically mentioned as B10 targets for the usual reasons - brand, AAU members, media markets, adding to geographic footprint, etc. Definitely don’t seeing either joining the B12.

Sounds like the B12 is being pragmatic.

I would have figured pitt would have been pick up number two behind louisville. not because I think miami is worth less. just figured they would be easier to pick up and the move would make wvu more happy. since they are currently stuck on an island.

There is gonna be some serious butt hurt with the remaining ACC schools when this finally breaks loose.

Let’s assume that Miami, Louisville go to Big 12

Let’s assume FSU, Clemson, UNC CH and Virginia go to some combo of Big10 or SEC.

Where do the rest go?

Would the big east possibly take Duke, Wake, Cuse, Pitt and BC to get to 16 and try to have as strong a basketball conference as possible?

Where would that leave VT, NCSU, GT?

I can’t see them all getting the call to the Big12.

I could see GT and NCSU getting the call to the Big 12 to take them to 20 because of their markets but I think VT is going to be SOL……

We may end up in a conference with VT again.

Those schools aren’t going to the Big East unless they want to drop their football to FCS or go Indy.

Someone suggested Duke might do it. The others won’t. They’ll need homes.

The ACC remnants will probably pillage the AAC in a desperate attempt to remain relevant, but their media contract won’t be much different than the AACs at that point.

That’s why I think there could be a rush to the big east to at least protect their basketball.

Who knows. If they have enough schools join, maybe they’ll have a new FBS conference.

ESPN will call the shots - why keep ACC contract and name that costs more per school - force them to come over to AAC. I am convinced the reason Areseco backed off from western teams was preparing for ACC collapse.

Jim Phillips is the Fredo of college athletics, although Fredo likely had a higher IQ. Still irks me that the state gave those bastards money to move their HQ here.

clt says the acc isn’t paying rent in Charlotte

I’m really curious to see what happens to cuse and duke. I’ve seen a few people mention duke to the big 12 but I just dont buy that since they seem too small to carry the state for that conference without at least one more nc school going with them. duke dropping football and just heading to the big east is more believable. But I could also see them sit back and wait to see what Syracuse does. Syracuse has the most experience being in the big east. if Syracuse believes its not a good idea to rejoin that conference for its sports but instead join another existing conference like the aac or create a brand new best of the rest conference then maybe duke might follow suit with them.

And you can expect UConn to be a potential partner.

UConn and Duke to the Big12 does make some sense from the basketball perspective.

Depends if Duke can get past the “institutional fit” issues.

Duke will not drop football or lower to FCS

The ACC will continue to exist simply because some of the schools have nowhere else to go. Cal, Stanford, SMU, Boston College, Syracuse, and Wake Forest all fit that category. If they add Washington State and Oregon State that makes a conference.

There was a thought that the PAC would survive because some of those schools had no one else to go. Here we are though.

MWC and AAC and BE combined could pretty much seal the deal for the ACC. Really depends what ESPN and TV folks want to happen.

NWA, you are consistent, I will give you that. Lol.
