scout has Michigan, Michigan State, UCLA and Xavier at Medium. No mention of Charlotte at all

Wonder how you say that name?

Just saw that he goes by “Manny”

From Rivals:

Redford junior standout Copperayle Harris scored the bulk of his game-high 34 points at the free-throw line.

“That’s what he does best,” said Lucas of Harris, “He gets to the free-throw line by being aggressive and relentless.”

I wonder if his name is pronounced the same was as Corporal

I’ve added him to the 2007 thread.

Kummer is from Michigan (Lavonia, I believe) and still has a lot of contacts in the area. Glad to see we’re recruiting hard for our PG of the future.

I’ve been spending MUCH time in Michigan recently (work related). It’s Livonia, trust me. I just froze my #^&@ up there. I also went through Hell (literally, there’s a place up there called Hell, Michigan), but that’s another story.

I think I might hyperventilate if he played here. Get to the line and score? What’s next, someone who boxes out and sets screens? My weak heart cant take it.

i want this kid on hair alone.

ninerreport has video of one of his games. He has like 4 blocks, a ton of free throws and an different looking shot that really works for him.

his follow thru is what makes his shot look awkard

I was hoping we would get this game on name and fro alone. But I seen this and almost had a heart attack. Would be nice to get a PG of this caliber and let him grow for a year and backup Carlos. That way if Beasley stayed then we would have some super soph’s out there in Beasley, Harmon, And Harris along with another BIG?

OOOOTAYYYY

Here is the latest from Scout.com

It begins with the whispers of a good season. Maybe a state title or a deep playoff run fuel the speculation. People get to talking and then come April the player will hit the recruiting trail and cement his reputation.
At 6-foot-4, Corperryale Harris could very well be the next guy we hear big things from in the state of Michigan. The Detroit Redford standout that averages in the mid-20s, is advancing his game and becoming a higher profile recruit.

A wiry wing with a Chris Douglas-Roberts-like body, Harris says that strength has helped him advance his own cause. “It’s getting easier because I’m getting stronger,” Harris said. “I’m able to finish with contact and things like that. I can play through the fouls.”

Harris presents an interesting matchup scenario on the win. “I feel like it’s probably hard for defenders to check me they way they defend,” Harris said. “It’s usually a big guard checking me and I’ll go to the hole easier. If it’s a little guy I go to the post some.”

Either way, it’s working. Redford is making a state title run and college recruiters are taking notice of Harris.

“I can tell you the schools that are looking at me: Charlotte, Wisconsin, Tennessee, Kansas and Michigan.” The Badgers, 49ers, Wolverines and Volunteers, according to Harris, have offered.

Harris is in no hurry to make a decision, preferring to take his time and feel out through the spring and summer who is actually deeply interested in his services. It’s that personal touch that could wind up swaying Harris one way or the other.

“Really it’s just going somewhere that I can play and somebody that is interested in me. It would be good to stay close to home to but at the same time I want find a place that is interested in me.”

By the way, if you’re wondering about the unique name, there’s a story there too. Harris has a cousin named Corin and an uncle who wanted to name him Perry. His mother couldn’t settle on Perry so she combined the two names and then added an “L” because all of his brothers and sisters on his mother’s side ended their names that way.

His nickname? “Manny. My mom said I looked like a man when it was little.”

If he doesn’t look like a grown man, he’s certainly playing like one for Redford.

“I can tell you the schools that are looking at me: Charlotte, Wisconsin, Tennessee, Kansas and Michigan.” The Badgers, 49ers, Wolverines and Volunteers, according to Harris, have offered.

He didn’t even mention UCLA. That’s interesting…

You guys think we got a shot at this kid? Like somebody mentioned, I’m excited that we’re agressively recruiting a future PG, but them some big schools on that list. I’m glad he said, “it’s just going somewhere that I can play and somebody that is interested in me.”…that might just be the key for us.

I agree, he has to like the fact that with beasley in the middle and the others scorers around him he could lead all freshmen in the nation in assists

If he can hit FT’s like I’m reading, then this guy sounds too good to be true. What worries me is that Carlos will be a senior and I don’t know how much time Harris would get backing him up. You know how Lutz likes to stay loyal, and I’m also wondering how many years Beasley will stay. Those could all be factors.

If JL leaves then Harris would have the chance to be our only backup PG when he comes here. Plus he would be the only returning guy who could play PG his sophomore(with Leemire and Carlos leaving). So Lutz would certainly let him see a lot of PT his freshman year, otherwise we would have no returning PGs with experience his sophomore year. Unlike this year with JL where we have Leemire coming back and Carlos Williams coming in from JUCO, we would have nobody coming back for Harris’s sophomore year except for him. So he will see the court as a freshman. One year as the primary backup and then 3 years starting is a very attractive offer we have for him.

Plus, as has been said many times, the attention we could be getting in the 07-08 season might be huge. If this kid can play, as it sounds like he can, he will get his chances to shine on a big stage. And if Beasley is here for one year, two years or no years, it doesn’t really matter. With the core group of Wilderness, Andersen, and Dewhurst (for sure), plus Tatum and Harmon (both sound solid), we are a big man (Booker) and a PG (Harris) away from becoming a very, very scary team once this group matures a little.

Are we all forgetting that Harris can play SG? he’s 6’4" having Lee, Carlos, and Harris would be an outstanding backcourt. Man I’m getting pumped. http://scout.scout.com/a.z?s=403&p=8&c=1&nid=1968121 … why no offer extended yet?
