Coverage of 49ers-Saint Bonaventure game

For being such idiot fans… I like how many of us just noted maybe Lee should take a look at those two games and if necessary be reigned in a bit to get his head on right (not bench him long term at all as that would be suicidal). So, Lee puts in some extra work in practice according to the article and he starts off slow, takes a seat on the pine for a few minutes, comes back in and is on fire? Look, I’m not saying the people who asked for this are the reason it happened (b/c if you are picking up your coaching tips from a message board there are some inner issues) but you can’t tell me some of us shouldn’t be able to clear our throat a little bit at that move.

I’m glad Lutz sticks up for his boys, he should, but you don’t alienate any part of your fanbase b/c at times you do not like the criticism (however crazy some comments may be). We’ve pointed out on here many times that just b/c you support something doesn’t mean you can’t be the biggest critic at other times.

I did miss where anyone said that Lee shouldn’t be starting. Not doubting someone might have said something like that out of frustration, but I believe that 99% of the people who weight in on the subject just wanted Lee to sit down to get his head on straight.

This is gonna be great! I just emptied my ignore list. While I enjoy the passionate fans on here, I really don’t bother with the persecution complexes or the transparent attempts to annoy. But this is gonna be way too funny to ignore. There will be a lot of crowns of thorns and crosses to be nailed to this week in addition to all the snide remarks. Should be good for a little while, at least.

ā€œHe gets blasted by some of our idiot fans for taking (bad) shots.ā€

…and then goes off for 39 points in response! hmmm…

BOOOOO BOOOO! YOU SUCK! YOU’RE AN AWFUL PERSON, LEEMIRE! BOOOO BOOOO … I HOPE YOU EMBARASS YOURSELF IN FRONT OF YOUR FATHER AGAINST XAVIER, YOU ASS … BOOOOO BOOOOO … WHY DON’T YOU GET YOUR ASS IN GEAR AND START FOCUSING, YOU LOSER?

BOOOOOOOOOOO!

ā€œWell, they should have been here tonight. If they want to question him, they can question me. I’m the guy who wants him to have the ball.ā€ - Bobby Lutz

I don’t think Bobby has to worry about that. Questioning Lutz is deserving.

And just to be honest: if Wilderness is left open in the corner … or if Dijuan has a clean look … or if Ian gets a good look off a screen … or if Gerrity drives and dishes to an open Dewhurst … or if 5 passes are made to Phil for a mid-range jumper

 • and the shot misses -

I’ll just say 'Get ā€˜em next time’ and start rooting for a defensive turnover.

I don’t worry about those shots. We’ll make our fair share of those shots. It’s when I read an A10 game recap that states:
Charlotte did not help themselves, firing up jumper after jumper over the final 6:32, enabling UD to slice into the six to eight point lead Charlotte had held consistently throughout the game.
link

…that’s when I get pissed. It’s the uncreative walk-up-and-launch-a-three that drive me nuts. No coach should pat himself on the back during the 3 times out of 10 that it works. That comes out to 9 points in 10 valuable offensive possessions (w/ the likely defensive rebound).

If it’s a bad look, pass or drive it inside and try to get the basket or the foul for those 10 possessions. You never want to help your opponent with multiple empty-handed possessions.

So I’ll question Lutz, as he requested. In return, I request that he not respond with a lecture about confidence or by faulting the idiot fans who mindlessly cheer at all the field goals and boo at all the misses. We ARE seeing bad shots taken sometimes and it’s not unfair to vent about that. You want Leemire to have the ball? OK - but recognize that there are some shots you don’t want ANYONE to attempt, star of the team or not.

ā€œHe gets blasted by some of our idiot fans for taking (bad) shots.ā€

Notice that the writer added the word ā€œbadā€ in parentheses. The writer understands where we’re coming from. I just hope Bobby understands.
I love Lee and I’m thrilled he had the kind of game he did.

That doesn’t change the fact that many of the shots he takes are not high % shots. I won’t say they’re bad shots because the difference between a good shot and bad shot for many is if it goes in or not.

Lee and Mack take bad shots. We shoot too many 3’s. Lee has moments when he takes VERY stupid shots. Lutz should reign him in when he’s off and taking bad shots. It doesn’t make a fan an idiot for pointing that out.

Bad choice of words on Bobby’s part. He should be above saying things like that.

Idiot fans, huh? Nice quote from the ol’ bball coach. Hey coach, the same idiot fans go and fill up Halton Arena every time you play, so you may want to make a retraction. What kind of coach calls the fans idiots? LOL. Oh and by the way, yeah we won vs St. Bonnies. However, the same St. Bonnie team that is awful and is the worst team in the conference. Squeaked by and could only do it with bombs from Lee, that did go in. Good call, Coach Lutz. Lee took care of business and we won by 4 over a high school team. Be proud.
There are many idiot fans. Coach is right. The 49ers have idiot fans. In fact he didn’t really need to point it out…just read a few of the comments on any message board. Retraction? I am sure he regrets saying that knowing how the media and the idiot fans will react.

Fact is…his players have been throwing up crazy shots for years. He lets his players play…and I assure you he doesn’t care what fans think about how he runs his team.

You know why he was told to explore other options, because he just let his players play.

So, how did you feel about the idiot comment?

If you don’t want to reply on here, I understand.

My feelings exactly after reading the article. Bobby knows better and a great game doesn’t excuse games of poor shot selection. Anytime someone questions Bobby about should the reign in a player people conviently forget games like Richmond and Dayton and only remember these type games. It’s great to have games like this from our senior. But we gotta find ways to win ones like Richmond and Dayton and can’t afford to have a player shoot us out of a game, no matter how valuable they are.

It would be funny if those who were called out from Lutz Live last week would wear t-shirts that said ā€œIDIOT FANā€ to the next Lutz Live.

Oh my! You are a naughty one!

Oh my! You are a naughty one!

You won’t do it.

If I were still in Charlotte, I would be tempted to do it.

If your aunt got some huevos . . . she could be your uncle, too. (Sorry, I couldn’t resist)

You wouldn’t need to wear the shirt. You could just show up and we’d all know.

Thanks Bobby.

Thanks Bobby.

That was when Goldwire was mired in a horrid two-game slump - so bad that 49ers fans were calling for coach Bobby Lutz to bench the guard.

It’s amazing that something said in a couple of threads here can end up in a newspaper in NY.

I wish some of the threads on football and the name change would get attention like this.
