I heard on the radio this morning that the Cameron Crazies of Duke are now being forced to sit down.
They said on ESPN radio that due to some sort of fire code enforcement the front row of the crazies have to remain seated during the gamesâŚ
Has anyone else heard about this? Anyone know more details?
I think this is the time for the Nerve-racking Niner Nation to step up and take over!!!
Kind of old news actually. And from what I recall hearing on the radio on Monday, theyâre not forcing them to sit down. Theyâre just moving the students further back so theyâre not so close to the court.
That just means no one will sit in the front row⌠I was in fire protection stuff for a while but didnât know about that code⌠I just hate that in my section at Halton we are the only ones that stand up much and i feel like everyone wants me to sit down⌠Hell no I ainât sitting down! They just need to stand up!

love or hate Coach K, you have to like this quote about the students:
âWhere were [the fire marshals] for the last 50 years?â he told the Durham Herald Sun. âItâs like, âDid we do something wrong? And if that is the case, then how might we be able to solve it without hurting the students?â Theyâre on the team, too. They should be as close to the court as possible.â
We were the first to stand up in Halton back in '96. We got front row mid court every game and students would yell at us to sit down. We would always yell back that this is college basketball and if they wanted to sit down to go to the alumni section. By the end of the season everyone was standing.

You are THE MAN!! Thats awesome. I hate when people whine about other people standing up.
Itâs only a matter of time before Duke builds a new arena. They are missing out on mega money!! but who cares. SCREW DUKE AND THE CRAZIES
The fire marshals have known about the violation for a while. Duke is just now beginning to enforce it. The students arenât being forced to sit down, theyâre just being forced to stand up where they have a seat.
The move will only push fans a few feet back from the court, but the students who cram into the standing-room strip on the floor each game will now have to find another place to cheer.
The fire regulations have been in place for years, but Duke has not followed them until this year, according to Durham fire marshal Eddie Reid.
Reid told the Herald Sun that the fire department âjust went over the occupancy plan with Dukeâ and he âhad no ideaâ why the school would suddenly choose to enforce the regulations.

Leave it to Coach Kry to blame somebody else.
