Dai-Jon Parker - 2011 SG

I think more often than not it’s writer bias rather than the order the player actually lists the schools in.

According to todays Ajc we are still on his list. His team is loaded with talent. As I said over the last few years, the bball talent in Georgia is like 10x that of NC. I think that has really hurt us, along with state, wake over the last 10 yrs.
actually, nc may be the most loaded state ib the country for bball talent in the next few years.

Glad to see we are still listed. This kid is big-time.

FSU signed that big time 2G out of Charlotte last year we were after. Correct?

His name always reminds me of Dylan (pronounced Die-lon)

Name the five best rappers of all time:

Dylan, Dylan, Dylan, Dylan…and Dylan

ESPN breakdown:

Strengths: Dai-Jon has proven himself to be one of the elite shooting guards in this class. He combines good explosiveness off the floor with a deadly stroke from behind the arc. He is much more of a streak shooter with terrific range who can off four or five in a row. Parker has a strong compact body to make up for his lack of great size. He uses his strength to explode to the rim on straight line drives or create space on one dribble pull-ups. He does a good job sprinting the floor putting him in good position for pitch ahead shots from behind the arc. Defensively, although he lacks great length he is still able to defend his position by using his physicality and strength. Weaknesses: One weakness in Parker's game is his inability to move over to the point guard position if needed. He does not handle the ball tremendously well under pressure, and needs to be a secondary ball-handler at best. You would like to see him use his chiseled frame and athleticism to create more offensive rebounding opportunities for himself. Also, for him to really make a difference at the next level he needs to become a more consistent shooter from behind the arc. Although he can get on streaks he needs to become a guy who shoots 40% or better. Bottom Line: Overall, Parker will make an excellent shooting guard at the next level. He brings to the table a good basketball IQ and a tremendous GPA. He is the type of student-athlete you want representing your university both off the floor and on.
Heard 2011 Rivals150 combo guard Dai-Jon Parker took an official visit to FSU this weekend; also heard that he visited Vandy last weekend.

Paul Biancardi of ESPN tweeted this back to me a few moments ago, regarding Charlotte’s pursuit of Parker:

@rossmith They R involved along with FSU,Vandy,Oreg ST…

Out of curiosity, which coaching staff would have made initial contact with this guy?
Out of curiosity, which coaching staff would have made initial contact with this guy?
this is the new staff, Odom to be exact. Odom was Parker’s primary recruiter while he was at Va. Tech.

Just had a visit to FSU, looking like academics are important. He checked out their Engineering department, which is a shared department with FAMU. He’s going to Oregon State this weekend. His decision will be made in mid to late October.

per Rivals:

Charlotte is another possible destination for an official visit, but at this time a specific date isn't known. At this point, Parker doesn't have a pecking order for the list of schools he continues to consider.

From Atlanta Journal Constitution:

The 6-4 Parker has taken recruiting trips to Vanderbilt and Florida State. He has official visits scheduled to Oregon State on Friday and Charlotte on Oct. 9. He has traveled to Georgia so many times over the years that he is unlikely to use one of his visits with the Bulldogs.

Answers that question.

I’m not going to get excited because I have so many times in the past and been disappointed.

If Major and Odom land him though, I’ll be thoroughly impressed.

Odom sounds like he could be a great recruiter for us. He landed Voncina and Thorne and has us in the top 4 for a top 100 player under a new regime that has yet to coach a game.

Will be nice to have his final visit. If we land Parker, we all need to take Odom out for drinks.

TW? TW? you’re my man! you better listen to this!

I would love to have TW and Dai-Jon. SG would be set for 4 years.

right! but what’s your theory re how we’d get them both playing time. my impression is that both these guys are ‘starters’.

Depending on the roster, TW could play SF. He’s a great athlete and is 6’4. We could use a three guard lineup, it’s hard to tell what the future holds with a new HC.
