Most of us are paying through the nose for insurance for the “privilege” of paying bills marked up like 500%, 600% or in this case like 800% of the cash price.

I had a nearly identical visit with my youngest when he was 4. Even bigger bill. Fought it for years.
If it had been $685, I would have probably done my usual moaning and then handed over my credit card at the checkout desk. That’s actually not a bad price for emergency services.
