now the 49th anked player, destiny.

So far we are the only ones to offer,

2 corrections:

I’ve never seen him projected as a small foward on a recruiting site. Scout lists him as the #9 power foward for his class.

Also, scout lists Maryland and Pittsburgh among the teams that have offered. Georgetown is supposedly keeping close tabs on him, too. (Charlotte is not listed at all) There’s a new article on rivals but, alas, I do not have a subscription.

As Survivor noted, he has been offered by Maryland and Pitt as well.

Scout.com: Dante Taylor profile

He’s mentioned in this Orlando hoops showcase recap from Scout:

National Christian Academy boasts a couple of serious athletes in Dante Taylor (6-8) and David Diakite (6-5). They fit the bill as the prototypical player that makes coaches salivate these days – long, slender, and can jump out of the gym. Diakite, a member of the class of 2008, is not the polished scorer that Taylor is but both have the body to play at the next level.

Taylor, a member of the class of 2009, put up 28 points in an impressive display. He was unstoppable in the lane and just out jumps everyone. The 6-8 forward from Fort Washington, Maryland had coaches from Maryland, UCONN, and Pittsburgh watching. Remember Taylor’s name because we think his stock is on the rise. It’s scary to think how good he could be at this time next year.

And again in this Maryland Terps blog:

Another local big kid is Dante Taylor from National Christian Academy in Fort Washington, but he could be a Big East type.

don’t want to be negative, but our chances of landing this guy are probably pretty low. Glad to see we’re at least trying though.

If Xavier, St. Louis, UMass, Fordham, Dayton, and Temple can land Top 150 players - then so can we.

Heck, even St. Bonaventure got a Top 150 transfer from UTEP and La Salle has been on the 'short list’s with some big-time recruits.

We’ve got to pull in our share, too. NC-MD based recruits is a good place to start.

Any news on this guy? It would be huge to land him. Guessing a Mox guy (Maryland recruiting connections) or maybe Cheeks?

Looks like we were left out of his “top 5.”

Rivals article on Maryland site. Need a big man in 09
Maryland, Pittsburgh, Charlotte and South Florida are the ‘4-star’ Taylor’s first offers, with more likely to come.

Taylor visited UM for the Virginia Tech game at Comcast this season.

Looks like we were left out of his "top 5."

Dante Taylor’s stock has soared up to the 5-star level - He’s in the Top 25 in rivals and one of the best rated power forwards in the country - and the two schools that recruited him the hardest were Kentucky & Louisville. His list as of 7/11/08 also included Georgetown, Maryland, UConn, Memphis, and Kansas.

He made his choice today. Drum roll please…

Pittsburgh.

Does this open the door for us to land Duke Crews?

When did Pitt start recruiting the Maryland / DC area?

I guess they secretly hired away Delonte Hill

Taylor committing to Pitt should help our case with Duke Crews.

except that Duke committed to that Division II powerhouse, Bowie State…
