How is the 49ers network doing, dalp!
I still can’t believe the 49ers aren’t on TV14 or some station in Charlotte. Someone is dropping the ball. As they say, out of sight out of mind.
Yeah, it rather sucks. I don’t even get the UNCC channel anymore since I moved into Union County. I would like to be able to watch away games without paying for an online subscription.
Success = more TV coverage. We weren’t very good last year and I don’t expect us to be very good this upcoming season. When we start winning 20+ games a season we will be back on TV again.

Yep.
I am SOOOO sick of hearing how IF we won more we’d be on TV more! Give me a break, maybe we would be on a little more nationally, but it should not effect our local coverage (which we do not have). We should have atleast a few games on a local package, PERIOD whether we’re 30-0 or 0-30!

Here come the conspiracy theories. The “powers that be” are Davidson alumni with deep pockets. Are we Forty Niners or Forty Whiners?

If this has any bearing of truth whatsoever, then this is even more proof we are about 5 years overdue for a direction change.

alot of our games used to be on WAXN 64. The truth is re-runs of Andy Griffith sell more ads than one of our games. Correct me if I am wrong here (Real lurking?) but Sig Sports buys our rights to broadcast and if they don’t get enough takers to fill the slots then it is not profitable to buy the airtime. At least when we were in CUSA, we could make this work with ch64, now interest is just too far gone to break even or take minor losses buy purchasing and selling airtime.
also Blame A10 execs/Bruno. They have dropped the ball in a big way with ESPN.
Sig Sports is willing to take a small loss to get us on the air. Everyone of their employees are alum. They can’t go broke doing it though. If I remember right, it costs 20k to put a game on the air.

That’s pretty much the way I understand it. I believe Sig sports also is responsible for airing 3 games locally, which could be CSTV produced or their own production, ie. the times Mullins, Gary Williams, Lane Odom, Jags, Cornbread called the games. It’s very complicated as far as getting the local stations on board.
The other difference with Davidson is of course, SportsSouth vs what we’re stuck with which is CSTV.
We had 7 national TV games 2 years ago, our first in the A-10. We were hot. Season ended 19-10, NIT and now we’re back to maybe 2 national TV games.
Hopefully, the local package can be improved.

Even when we were beating Cincy and Loserville in CUSA the local demand to see our games was not what it should have been. We would get those big wins on National TV back then but everyone in Charlotte would be more familiar with the ACC games that had taken place the night before. Those games seemed to get more attention than our big wins. Our games did receive much attention on a national scale. Just not on a local scale.
But we still have far more fans than Davidson. Even if they are a better team this year. Something has to be done. There is no excuse in this.
