Dayton Crushes Pitt

WOW.

I was surprised. The A-10 is really stepping up. Thoughts?

Brian Roberts is insane.

Brian Roberts is insane.

i second that

Dayton crushed Pitt. The outcome was never really in doubt and they were up 80-50 late in the game. They shot 52% for the game. Also, Dayton’s Chris Wright (leading rebounder and 2nd leading scorer) was limited to playing mostly garbage time as he is still recovering from an injury. I’d imagine that Dayton will steal some Top 25 votes away from some of today’s losers: WVU, BYU, and Miami.

The A10 now has 3 teams in the RPI Top 25 at the moment: Dayton (11-1, #9), Rhode Island (13-1, #14), and UMass (10-2, #20). Xavier is #26. The only other conferences with 3 teams in the RPI Top 25 are the SEC, Big 12, and Big Ten.

There should be some really good conference matchups coming up - too bad most of the country won’t get to see it on tv.

I was at the Pitt/UD game tonight. Dayton played as well as a team could play, and really took it to Pitt all night. They beat Pitt at their own game as the Flyers outrebounded the Panthers 41-36 (Pitt outrebounds their opponents by 11 per game), and held them to 29% shooting. Brian Roberts was fantastic! The LeVance Fields injury appeared very serious. That would be the 2nd lost starter for the Panthers in 2 games.

yes… but realistically, Pitts season is likely trashed. They lost their leading man against duke, and their second leading man tonight against dayton (idk waht the injury report is yet)

so… im optomistic, but not too optomistic

So much for that 70 to 1 odds Pitt to win the National Title…

Just to be clear though, Fields’ injury wasn’t why Dayton won. They had that game well in hand before he went down.

UD is looking very good. If you would have told me they had a chance in a game in which Chris Wright would play sparingly due to an injury, then only score 4 points – all on FTs – then I would have said that’s crazy!
