Dayton poster down on Niners

In my eyes I dont think Charlotte will be good this season. This year UD should beat them both times. They lost there best guard Brendan Plavich who was there hole backcourt and played the hole game.He was also there 3 point guy. They also lost 1 of there top big men Eddie Basden who also was in the hole game.Dont get me wrong they still have Curtis Withers which plays F but he cant do it all. When we play Charlotte Roberts and Scott should have a big game because i dont think anyone on that team can guard them.

Hmmm, I think the only “hole” is in this guy’s head… :stuck_out_tongue:

wow are they really that cocky to believe that their overrated team can actually beat us twice? I give them once and by like 1 point even if that.

– Plavich played the WHOLE game? More like 25-30 minutes, and that was too much.
– Basden is a “big man”?
– Dayton is going down. Twice. Hard.

I’m not familiar with the hole game. Is that where you try to put it in the hole? I will be glad to see Curtis Withers in for the Whole game and us not living off the long 3’s for a change. Dayton = 5BT

I don't know where this guy is coming from, but all of the Dayton fans that I've talked to (read: long time season ticket holders) are very glad to have us in the league, and feel that we will be at the top of the league year in and year out.

fixed.

Every team has its share of “hole”-in-the-head fans.

I think this year will be interesting. Even though we have a good non conference play history with a couple of A10 teams, I doubttheir fans really know us. And vice versa.

I’m also a little bit worried about Martelli getting such a good look at C-Dub. If Curtis has a major flaw, Martelli will know and exploit it come the St Joe’s game.

Poor idiots…they most not know about Alexander, but they will.

i do know about dayton basketball and they rarely go on the inside so there game is a lot like NC State in the 3 game in that respect. They just don’t use the motion offense. So believe it or not i’m not as ignorant as i seem.

Dax, I wasnt saying you are - I just changed your “they are” to “he is” - it’s just one guy who’s that oblivious.

Dayton is gonna be NASTY this year. That poster seems to be a complete horse’s ass, but honestly I wouldn’t be surprised if they took two from us this year. I would definitely be pissed and dissapointed, but certainly not shocked.
That having been said, I’m sure Alexander will hit nine threes and Withers will grab thirty rebounds, and we wont have to worry about an L B)

I posted on one of the Dayton boards for a while and found a lot of knowledgable fans. I never ran into this kind of idiot. We shared a sentiment that our two teams were probably going to become prety good rivals, due to being good programs and playing 2X/year.

He has the Niners scouted about as well as I have the Flyers scouted. Don’t break down a team if you can only name one current player.

I won’t be surprised if the we split with Dayton, but lose both games! That might happen against GW, but can’t imagine getting swept by the Flyers. Guess we’ll just have to wait and find out in early 2006.

GO NINERS! GO A-10!

If you really want to stir up the Dayton fans, everytime you post on their site, end your message with “North Carolina: First in Flight”. They’ll pop a vein whenever they see that.

So, is Dayton a rival now?

BTW, we should all use the First in Flight thing as a signature on that board. Kinda silly but fun nonetheless.

I hope you guys don’t mind me posting here. I just thought I would chime in on this subject.

The guy who posted that on the Flyer site is most likely a little uninformed about Charlotte. As you can see by the replies on the thread, his view is not very popular among Flyer fans. I do expect to see more uninformed comments on a lot of the A-10 sites as the season nears though. Most casual fans around the league are just not familiar with Charlotte. I must confess, I don’t know the strengths and weaknesses of Charlotte. I plan on watching as many of your games as I can this year. I have heard you guys run a high octane offense and you have the size and strength that will compete with the best in the A-10. I fully expect that Charlotte will not finish below #3 in the league. I think that GW will not finish below #4. Xavier, Dayton, St. Joes, UMass and Temple will fill in the other spots in the top 7, but I am not going to attempt to rank them. There isn’t much that seperates the top 7 teams in my mind. St. Joe’s lost a lot on the inside with the loss of Dwayne Jones to the NBA, but Phil Martelli always seems to manage his talent well.

Glad to have you around Dfan.

Welcome to the board, UDfan. Always glad to have a good basketball fan around. We’re pretty inclusive, unlike our former conference mates to the west.

We’re still learning about the A-10, so feel free to chime in anytime.
