Things are looking good on Alexander. Apparently, his paperwork is complete and in hand. Now, waiting to hear from the Administration at OU on his release status. Sounds favorable.
Alexander (6’6" sg/sf) would have to sit out one year (D1 transfer rule) and have two years of eligibility.
DeAngelo Alexander, a 6-foot-5 swingman, played his last season at Oklahoma as a sophomore in 2004. On Thursday, Alexander made the decision to transfer east.
The Charlotte 49ers are the proud owners of a commitment from former Oklahoma sophomore DeAngelo Alexander. The 6-foot-5, 215 pound Alexander averaged 9.4 points and 4 rebounds in 24 minutes of action last season for the Sooners.
As a high schooler, Alexander came out of Midwest City, Okla., where he averaged 19 points a game and was the No. 64 player in America.
He’ll be expected to have an immediate impact on the program after sitting out next season. “I think it’s a different style of basketball then I play now,” Alexander said. “It’s more wide open and I can do something down low in the post.”
Georgia Tech and St. John’s showed interest in Alexander but after visiting Charlotte it became a done deal. “They started recruiting me and I liked it and then I went down to take a visit and I liked it. The opportunity for me there is big.”
[b]"Charlotte is a place where I will have a great opportunity to try to help them get to the next level. I want to help them get to the Final Four within the next couple of years," Alexander said. "I know coach Lutz is a good coach and they have a real good system.
“They let you go as long as you get back and defend and that’s the way I like to play. They want to win.”

BTW, Alexander played with Sheldon Williams (Duke) in high school and the two are very close friends. I wouldn’t be surprised if Williams isn’t spotted in Halton this summer.
