Delonte Hill's salary
Safe to say that unless there is another Baasley up his sleeve there will be a massive pay cut in his future. I hope he saved well.
i agree. and has he even been worth it so far? beasley for one year. and only a quick post season appearance out of it. now ksu is stuck with his ridiculous asst coach contract and an even shadier head coach. :violin:

The articles fail to point out, that it is not just Beasley he brought in, he has recruited some other good players their and continues to bring them in. The only reason this is news, is because he has the title, Assistant, if his title was Head Coach, it would hardly be news worthy.

A headline “School signs/pays Head Coach big money, to land top recruits”; is just not very interesting, it is expected.

Also one of the articles mentions the assistant salaries at Carolina, Kansas. Well if anyone needs a strong/good recruiter it is Kansas State not those schools.

I think the biggest question here is: How many FSL’s has he bought???

Very well stated. He is still guilty as charged but he can also get paroled by supporting Niner Football.

He already has a commitment from a Top 25 and another Top100 for next year.

Wait until November 12-19 and see if the signatures arrive.

I hope he does not buy any. Not that we don’t need the money, I just don’t want ANY of his. I would hate to see his sellout self in our stadium. He can save his money for his recruiting.

As the top Delonte hater on the board, I fully endorse this post.

There are plenty of people here who wouldn't have sold out.
Sense when is taking another job to make a lot more money considered an unreasonable thing to do? Lutz hired Hill bcause of his connections. K-State gave him more money than us because of his connections. Fans get too emotional about these things.
Lutz hired Hill bcause he was a former player and wanted to give him a break. Huggins gave him the same amount of money as us because of his connections. When Huggins left K State then gave him more money because of his connections.
Fixed.

He had a chance to bring his school (that he f’ing PLAYED for!) to a whole new level that we have been striving to reach for years.

We were MUCH more talented than KState was without Beasley. So KState + Beasley = #22 to #25 range rankings, a second round exit in the tourney, and a few ESPN games. I have to think Charlotte + Beasley would have equaled a top ten ranking, an Elite Eight or Final Four, plus about twice as many televised games as they had.

Just my .02

Did losing Hill free up the coaching position that allowed us to bring Mox back? If so, I’ll take that trade.

He did not get a big raise to go to K-State. It was only a few grand more, which we likely could have matched. He got the big bonus to STAY at K-State after Huggins left.

And you don't think he was promised this raise before he left here? The guy with the connect makes the big money. Didn't you watch The Wire?

Why promise him a raise when you can just pay him straight up for leaving? Why accept a promise when you can make them pay you now? He got paid big $$ after Huggins left, bottom line.

Lutz hired Hill bcause of his connections
Partially true. Lutz gave a former player a chance. There was zero chance Beasley would come here when Hill was hired, as the NBA rule still allowed immediate entry. It wasn’t until after Hill had been here a while that they changed the rule and made HS kids go to college first. There was never any guaranteed payoff for hiring Hill. It certainly was a lot cleaner than Cal hiring Wagner’s dad, or Brown hiring Manning’s dad back in the day. You hire head coaches for the same reason.

He got a small raise to go to K-State. His “stay here so we can keep Beasley” bonus came only after Huggins announced his departure and the mob guy was promoted to head coach. And, no, I don’t think the bonus money was promised until K-State realized he might go to WV with Thuggy Bear. I think he went to K-State because Huggins weasled him away. I already hated Huggins, but Hill turning his back on his alma mater and the guy that gave him a chance to coach college basketball for a paltry raise was pathetic.
