Iām all for the idea if Major wants it but I believe some other guy with his jersey on the wall would disagree with Demarco being the best big guy ever (and so would I).

His jersey is hanging on more than just our wall.

So multiple people have Wade Helliwellās jersey on their wall?
I have a Withers jersey hanging in my closet.
I would love for Demarco to be part of the program. He is by far my favorite Niner of all time. If Major doesnāt have a place for him on staff, the AD should find a position for him.
This - if Demarco wants to be a part of our program then we need to make it happen and fit him in somewhere if Major doesnāt have a spot for him.

Demarco would be more effective than several in the athletic department are now.

Yep. In the rafters somewhere in the Northeast in the Boston area, I think.

HP- do you think Benny Moss would consider returning to Charlotte as an asst? Or do you think heās more ābeen there; done thatā?
Iād totally welcome DeMarco as an assistant coach btw.
Survivor, never say never but as of when I spoke with Benny last weekend, no. Weird wording in his contract prevented him from even discussing any job opportunities until the AD told him okay last Friday. But it certainly would be beneficial for both him and UNCW to be able to part ways.

i dont want benny back. he wasent a good head coach or assistant coach. no offense to the guy because he seems nice but he isnt a good coach.
Remember to go to the FaceBook page and become a fan. This will serve as an online petition.
Just curious, but besides the fact he was a great player and he wants to be a coach what makes you think DeMarco would be an amazing coach? Just asking the question.[/quote]
Itās really just a hunch that heād be a great big man coach, nothing besides what I saw him do in a Niner uniform to base it on really, but he was a stud as a Niner and had as many post moves as anybody Iāve seen at the college level. It was amazing that heād always have bigger players on him but still be able to get his shot off (and a good shot at that).
I guess my statement should be āif he can teach 1/2 of what he could do on the court heād be an amazing big man coachā but I have no reason to think he couldnāt do it. Especially being under a HC that is a big man coach already I donāt see it being an issue for him. But to answer your question itās all speculation on my part.
I could see him being a guy who recruits could really relate to. Apparently, he is claiming that he has some connections to local talent.
This from the Facebook Page:
I just found out that DeMarco met with Judy Rose before Easter to talk to her about joining the coaching staff. He was told he has her support. He also spoke with coaches Lutz, Watkins and Mullins; all of whom are behind the idea of having DeMarco on the coaching staff. Now itās our turn! Please call/email the athletics office and let them know you want them to hire DeMarco! Spread the word!
Can we please let this guy have a chance to come in here and make some decisions before we start trying to pick his staff for him. We hired him for a reason. He has a plan on who will be part of HIS staff. We all love DeMarco, but he has zero coaching experience, and he might not be the right pick for one of the asst. positions. Or, maybe he is the right choice. But bringing up an online petition? Letās let Major do his thing for right now.
First things firstā¦Benny is a great assistant coach. Not sure about head coach, but one of the best assistants Iāve ever seen. Now I agree that the new coach needs to bring in his own staff and it would be hard to sell him self if he didnt already come in with a entire plan (entire coaching staff). DeMarko is a great guy though and truthfully ex-players make the best coaches when it comes to teaching the game.
Iām sure we could find a position for DeMarco somewhere.
I second the notion that Benny was a good AC. He was best known for his scouting abilities and game prep. Just not a good HC.
