…is now 4th in the nation in assists (both per game and total). The amazing thing is, we don’t have any consistent shooters, and he still racks up assists. With Spears, Braswell and Bowden next year, he may average close to ten a game.
Have we ever had a pg rank that high in assists? I’m sure Colson averaged around 7 a game, but I can’t remember.
Anyways, just thought I would point this out, as he has been one of the bright spots in an otherwise dismal season.
When I watched the 1998 Charlotte vs Chapel Hill NCAA game a few months back, I believe it said Colson averaged 7.8 (or somewhere in the high 7’s) per game and was 3rd in the nation.

Colson was a triple threat: excellent distributor, good mid range j, could penetrate.
Not to mention the number 1 isn’t even D1 basketball. Harris is 3rd for Charlotte in total assists, and tied for second for average I believe. He will likely move into number 2 for total assists by the end of the season, but don’t think he will make number 1… it’s possibly though. Colson had 231 total, averaging 8 a game.
Lets just hope we can find an decent backup for him next yr.
Not even that worried about having a backup for him, more so having someone to be trained for after him. He's proven he can do 45 if he has to. Heck if he got 5min backup a game it would be fine.
I can only imagine if we had some people who could hit some open shots, his numbers would be through the roof- he’s averaging 10.5 per game over the last eight

I was originally hoping for a 4 year PG to train, but the chances of that are pretty much null now. Probably the only thing we’ll be able to find is a mediocre Juco PG that might not be a whole lot better than what we have now, but who knows.

That was evident last night. Even though he can play 45 minutes, I think his effectiveness is lessened late in the game because he is tired. I’d rather see him play 35 minutes and hit the front end of that 1-1 late in the game.
It’s amazing the energy he can display for 40+ minutes but I think he would be even better with fresher legs.

While Harris is by far my favorite player, regardless of how tired he is, he's not a great FT shooter. He got his first 4, and missed his fifth. With his FT shooting, that's bound to happen whether he's tired or not.
If you rely on a "disaster" pg your season is going to be that. You need two PG's, no arguing that. Dewhurst proved he isn't a PG.
If we need to get 38-40 strong minutes every night from Harris next year means we failed in recruiting.
I agree. We got Sherrill and Braswell early, which was great. I just think our hopes of landing any decent PG at this point are pretty slim, especially considering the success of our season. I’m definitely crossing my fingers we can get a juco that will be able to start in 2010 then at least. I wouldn’t complain if we could find a decent 4 year guy from under the radar though.

Exactly…I love Dijuan, but that miss was the dagger! I thought we lost the game right there (aided of course by big Phil and Mack fouling out)!

Plus, someone of his smaller stature playing that many minutes a game again will surely start leading to nagging injuries, if not a catostrophic one. So, he needs a competent backup not only for the team’s success, but also for his own physical security.

His FT shooting % dropped 5% this season. Don’t know if that’s attributable totally to the high number minutes or that he’s getting many more attempts that he did last season. Some of both, but I think he’ll get back to at least 70% if we can spell him some.
