Does A10 have a Commissioner's Cup?

Just wondering if A10 has any Cup for overall sports achievement. I know other threads have questioned if all league members are being as competitive as they’re able to be. This would encourage that, if there isn’t any. I take it there isn’t b/c I haven’t seen us talking about the points. I think we would have been fairly competitive this past year.

My understanding is that there used to be one, but I can’t find anything on their website about it. I’m sure if you asked this question on the A-10 board, you’d get an answer.

Here’s what I found on the URI website:

Rhode Island Finishes Second In Atlantic 10 Commissioner’s Cup

From what I can ascertain, it was suspended when Charlotte and Saint Louis joined.

Thanx run, I’m headed there now.

The 49ers may have performed well, but would have difficulty in winning any trophy. They don’t participate in five A-10 sports: field hockey, lacrosse, men’s swimming, women’s swimming and rowing.

I suppose you couple have also added football as well before the teams were moved to the CAA for that sport.

Couldn’t find a message board at the A10 site. But, I did notice that we are not alone in fielding some of these sports. There’s only 8 teams in field hockey, rowing, and lacrosse. And some of those aren’t even in the league. Never heard of West Chester. Also, Swimming was just with 10 schools. I also found a reference to Rhode Island winning the 2005 Commissioner’s Cup. Maybe the league scrapped it b/c it appears that they’ve kinda grow piece by piece (in differing directions).

Johnny, here’s the link to the A-10 board:

but don’t anymore.

Richmond had owned it the last few years.

I remember Judy Rose saying something about this in the past year. Referring to either the 2006-2007 season or the 2005-2006 season it was something about how we were part of the group that didn’t want the commissioner’s cup once Charlotte & SLU joined (that or they didn’t want it reinstated or something, I’m not really sure). I remember this because she said something along the lines of “…which is funny because we would have won it if there was one.”

I could be totally off, but I remember something along those lines…

I think we’ll be adding field hockey, women’s swimming and a couple of other women’s sports in the near future.

Just please don’t tell me that we will add a rowing team. Maybe whitewater rafting but no rowing, please.
