Sportsline.com: Point guards ailing all around country
Doyel does mention our own Mitchell Baldwin:
Mitchell Baldwin, Charlotte: The junior suffered a broken right hand last month in a pickup game and will miss the team’s Canadian exhibition tour. Baldwin was slated to replace Demon Brown at the point, and still might, but his absence opens the door for freshman Leemire Goldwire. The 49ers expect Baldwin on the court later this month, and to be 100 percent for the opener Nov. 19 against visiting Long Beach State.
Others of note…
Dedrick Finn, Xavier: The junior will miss a trip to the Bahamas after being suspended indefinitely this week, but isn’t expected to miss any games. He and freshman Churchill Odia still should share Lionel Chalmers’ old job, but Finn’s absence puts extra pressure on Odia, who didn’t play as a high school senior because of visa issues.
Jeremy Hunt, Memphis: The junior wing is Plan B should freshman Darius Washington flop at point guard (unlikely). Hunt hasn’t played since suffering a torn ACL in February and was only 85 percent late last week, according to coach John Calipari.
