Dr. Phil Is Calling Out NNN!

This is an email I recieved from Dr. Dubois after I pledged to donate $500 dollars of my tax return to the Athletics Foundation and promised an additional $500 per year after we say YES:

Dear Stanton: Thanks very much. I’m certainly going to do the best I can with this decision.

I will pass your commitments through to Mike Hummer and Judy Rose. Certainly, if we go with football, we are going to need consistent substantial support from alumni. I’m afraid the group of folks who think we can do this on $49 per year don’t really understand what it’s going to take.

        See you in the fall.

                                                                                Phil

AND HE’S RIGHT!

We have to step it up! $49 dollars is great but it is not enough for FBS football! I think we all realize this and I think NOW is the time to put our money where our mouths are. We all have or will be recieving tax returns soon. $499 sounds right to me. Football can live or die with us! We have all made pledges but I believe now is the time to prove our resolve. If 499 is too steep for you the give what you can but we have to make this happen and $49 isn’t going to cut it anymore.

I hope this doesn’t end up being a King’s wine situation. This has to come down to people not thinking that everyone else is going to do it, so they don’t need to do it. Everyone has to give what they can. Eventually football should be self sustaining once it gets into FBS and gets into a good conference with TV deals and what not, but until then, it will take everyone working together to give to the team in order to work. Once I graduate, I plan to give as much as I can.

Do you have a job currently? If so, then you can freely choose to go ahead and pay you annual student fee now! $200 in 4 $50 increments over the next 4 months should be within the average working students budget. We can call it the give a beer a day campaign.

what group of people said $49 each would get it done…wasn’t here.

Right now, I am making my contribution to the athletic dept. by giving them very cheap labor. Don’t you ever try to take my beer from me again!

The average Pirate Club member pays $385 a year. That 13,000 members (a 1300% increase over the 49er Club) that donate over $5,000,000.

I have a job and I am on record for $1K per year when we say YES and only when we say YES!

Remember all of you BofA folks out there, whatever you donate, BofA matches and the athletic department takes care of all the grunt work.

Like the other guy said, I have 2,500 per year to donate.

Just wandering, how many season tickets do you think that would get me to football and where would my seats be?

ECU knows how to run an athletic foundation plus keep their students involved at all times. They also have one of best AD’s in the south in Terry Holland (students call him ā€œT.H.ā€) and they know how to market their athletics.

clt adds it is not just alumni who are going to contribute.
