Xavier and A-10 beatwriter Dustin Dow of the Cincinnati Enquirer doesn’t seem to be a big fan of our fair city. From his blog on X’s A-10 sked:

Considering the fact that the Mouseketeers barely managed to squeak by with a measly 2-point victory last year, despite being ranked 12th in the country, Dustin Dow should probably SHUT HIS MOUTH.
Not to mention the fact that X coach Sean Miller thinks Charlotte is a leading A10 program: “Well in our conference this season, we have great depth and we have some real quality teams. Charlotte is one of them.”

This may be a Jim Utter question: Do sports writers check message boards/team websites of other schools (mainly conference affiliated) for leads or interesting facts that they can reference down the line?

Maybe on his last trip to Charlotte, his wife came with him and she stayed in Charlotte with another man. So if that’s the reason, I could understand why Charlotte leaves a bad taste in his mouth.
OR
He drove to Charlotte because his job doesn’t respect him. He got a ticket going in and out of Charlotte, and his wife shagged it with NORM at halftime.

I like Dow too as he is one of the best – if not THE best – beatwriters in the A-10. Not sure what the problem is with Charlotte. Perhaps I should invite him to lunch when he’s here for the X game and we’ll head on down to the new Hooters opening up on West Trade Street near the Square so we can talk about it! :biggrin:

True. Ohio’s economy is going down the tubes. People are flocking to North Carolina, especially to Charlotte. Just look at the growth we’ve enjoyed over the past few years. It’s exploding. Heck, my neighbors are from Ohio. Moved here just recently. Heh.
Maybe because a road game at Charlotte for Xavier is one of the biggest threats for a loss in conference?
