E. Victor Nickerson - 2011 SF - signed LOI to Charlotte

This is a big get simply for the fact that the staff has identified some guys they really want- actually getting them to sign rather than going to back up plan #6 is a great sign for the future… (that was not a knock on Lutz)

FTFY.

Nickerson highlights at: 1:10, 1:33, 2:25, 5:30, 5:45, 5:53, 6:15 & 6:30

Norcross Basketball - Metro Atlanta Fall League Highlights

Nickerson’s HS team will be playing in Charlotte on Nov 26 & 27 in the Iverify Tournament at Waddell High School.

WANT

Norcross is the preseason #16 ranked HS team in the nation. Nickerson is playing along side guys that are going to Nebraska, Miami & Richmond.

I think a lot of this stuff is “spin” like any other recruit situation. He is a smart kid and knows how the media game is played. Hopefully behind the scens we are already in place.

Here are his quotes to Depaul media and he is in touch with their players also.

Here is a quote concerning the top 100 PG Larkin Depaul just signed

“I talk to him every day”.

Here he is talking about Depaul coaching staff,

“the bond between the coaching staff and myself, has put the Blue Demons in position to land him”.

When asked about Purnell and Depauls new style of play with him and how he might fit in,

" The tempo of play. I love uptempo play and running the floor."

In the recruiting game who knows what sways a 18 year old. I heard of one big time recruit who actually chose a school for their colors. He thought he was so good that it did not matter where he went and he liked the school colors for his image he was going to market. Crazy.

I hope we land the kid. Seems very talented and has his head on straight. Would be a nice first 3 signings for Major but this a crazy world in the recruiting circles and I am glad I do not make my living based off the decisions of a 18 year old.

FTFY.
A wishful slip on my part

E. Vic should look at DePaul’s depth chart closely. Despite his relationship with their staff, they have a SF who is a freshman this season and have already got a verbal for next year from another one. Eric Wallace will also likely be back since he is sitting out this season with a broken leg. We won’t have a player like E. Vic on our roster next year, and he will get a load of PT here. No way he gets near that amount of PT at DePaul, if he gets any at all. C’mon up E.Vic!!!

somebody should remind him that depaul is terrible and it will be a fight just to get out of the big east cellar.

The smart players keep their options open by saying nice things about everyone. The recruiting services then either ask certain questions, and/or print mostly the quotes that will most excite their own subscribers. It’s a game played over and over again. You can read an article by one team’s reporter and then a different article by someone else, and get entirely different conclusions from it.

It sounds like Charlotte is being seriously considered. But I’m not sure I’d read too much into the player’s quotes until he actually says he’ll verbal somewhere, and then still be skeptical until he actually signs. Otherwise, you’ll allow those recruiting services to play you.

Watched the highlights- kid looks like he has really good skills. Good get if we land him.

Surprised we told him he could play whatever position he wanted to play.

Coach Major probably told him that it was very possible for him to get PT at positions 1 - 4, which if he is as skilled as has been described, could be very true.

He probably did tell him he could play any position he wanted to play, Major was talking about practice though.

Where was it reported he was told he could play any position 1-4?

We talking about practice, we aint talking bout’ the game now we talkin bout’ practice. PRACTICE, not the GAME, PRACTICE!!!

Someone mentioned he played those positions in HS… doubt there would be little carry over into the NCAA, seems like a natural SF.

More specifically, where was it said he was told he could play whatever position he wanted? The Niner National post above.
