Jon Davis and Vanhook were the game MVPs. Price hit some timely 3s as well.
we adjusted to their height and their game plan and made it work in the 2nd half. I also liked how Price stuck with a lineup that was working and didn’t feel like he had to sub just to get guys minutes. Sometimes you have to continue with what works.
If Jon Davis keeps it up, where could he land on the all-time niner list? Avg 25 pts through 3 games in his sophomore season.
Hopefully White finds his shot sooner than later. When he does, having White, Davis, Braxton AND Hudson who can hit the 3 at a high rate is huge. Having Hudson out their to stretch the floor is huge.
The new guys played hard and well in their limited minutes. Team looks good 3 games in. Beans held his own on defense.
Nice to get out to a good start this year. According to the stat sheet it looks like Davis carried us through the 2nd half. Just wish the AD made it easier to follow this team (especially since I now live out of town)
It would be nice if the streams 1. worked and 2. were free.
Can’t imagine they are getting very many people paying for them. Certainly not enough to cover the cost of production. Would be better to get it out for free through a more reliable streaming source…YouTube and even Facebook would be good ways to get more exposure. If your team’s fans support is very low, maybe you shouldn’t hide your games in a hard to reach area on the internet behind a paywall.
I don’t know if we will face another team with the size ECU has. Guys fought hard to over come it. After a sub-par first half we went in and made adjustments and got back to our game.
This is a fun team to watch with guys that are easy to root for. Fun game and even better that we won.
I hope the crowds get better for coach. It was something he mentioned in the post game. We know Halton can be loud. Moving the students has been a disaster in my opinion. We really need more energy in the building. I hope if we keep winning more of a crowd shows up.
Two years ago who would have thought that we could have beaten a team with their size and with the calls we were getting. Bad calls used to get our teams all out of sorts. And last but not least, when was the last time we had a team that was getting fouled with a minute or so left and we knew we had the game locked up.
The coach has really made some big gains in just over a year. Let’s keep seeing the progress.
The first half may have been the strangest half of basketball I have ever seen.
We shot 29%…20% from 3
We were outrebounded 26-11
And they had 17 turnovers (in the first half!?!?!)
I didn’t get there until under nine minutes left in the first half…at the under 4min time out, I had personally witnessed a total of one basket combined by both teams…a three pointer by JD.
Good game fellas! Jon D is extremely good. Can’t say enough about the heart of Hook and JC. Battling with dudes who are 5-8 inches taller than them. Good stuff boys–keep it going and we have a chance to have a lot of momentum and a real good record headed into the string of Power 5’s.
Reading the ECU board is comical. I believe they referred to Elon as a D2 school. Lol. Elon turned around and beat South Florida by 15 after losing to us.

How were the students not loud tonight? You must’ve not been at the game. If you were, how was the loudness compared to Newberry game? If it continues growing, boom.

What the hell does ezu know about basketball? Their football team is crap too this year. That’s why they are so pissy. F*** 'em.
After I don’t know how many years of terrible F.T.Shooting i’m still a bit paranoid, but it’s amazing how important it is and you can see it when we have a lead in the 2nd half.We haven’t exactly played top-10 competition but the difference in coaching between Major and Price is so freaking wide…did we ever come out in the 2nd half of a game under Major and adjust and take control of a game ?..We’re small, pretty dependent upon hitting 3’s and not great defensively…yet, but hell we sure are fun to watch.
Now if I could just stop thinking about the wasted 5 years under previous regime…

Just once, the home game against Davidson in 2011, but I digress.
Couldn’t watch the game (Panthers), but impressed we were able to win by double digits after ugly first half. Did it look like we were actually playing defense or were the pirates just that inept with the ball?

IMO we played pretty well defensively even giving up a bunch of size. Kept our feet moving and stayed in front of our men and a good number of steals were just us wanting it more and making it tough to get the ball inside to the big men.

Students tonight loud? Nah. They are flat and uninspired. They cheered some - as did the entire crowd, but what we have right now is a pale representation of what we can do. Just need better numbers and more engaged. We used to have 3-4 sections of students standing and yelling the entire game. What I saw today was a few die hards on each end standing and engaged while most of the others just sat there.
I did not go to Newberry, because I am not going to a regular season game that should be an exhibition.
