Fire Ron Sanchez

image

This is a barometer. As the pressure increases, the chance or Ron Sanchez being fired increases? Who is the other dlb49er1? Is that your dog? If so, that is impressive as anything on this chatbox

There’s only one 49er1 and that’s me. I kinda don’t like that my longtime handle has been hijacked.

Yeah, but do you have a loyal pet that types and supports you here? That is unique

I could be wrong

Lol. That is weird. Not sure why that is happening unless it is my phone versus my laptop.
Could be someone else is just as brilliant. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye::joy:

I don’t believe anyone is questioning the teams effort and working hard. These kids are competitors, of course they want to win at their core. But playing hard can also mean: running a badly devised bad old-school schemed offense hard, isn’t going to produce the results needed. If you are saying the players play hard and and they execute, and show no results, that’s on the coach and his chosen philosophy. WHealy’s players all played hard, they were not set up for success, the same is happening with basketball. I have nothing against Ron and Will for that matter. I am sure they put their heart in it totally. It’s not working, “thank you for your effort but it’s time for a change”

Here is the deal, I am going to do my best to be nice if I see your dog avatar. Looks like a great pooch. If I see the other one, I can’t promise the same

Wow. This thread has been alive for 26 months with over 3000 posts.

I think he’s not getting fired.

This thread is now officially ridiculous.

What? Nobody committing on the last 2 wins? I guess the naysayers are a little quiet until the next loss. I’m with dbl49 who makes a lot of sense. I have a little expertise (played high school and college) and I believe the jury’s still out. The COVID years, bad chemistry last year (we got blew out a lot) are relevant as is this year’s improvement. Let me also say your 90+% of firing is not accurate. Anytime you solicit a poll , the passionate bunch respond but doesn’t take into account people that are not rabid or on the fence.

Well said. There are a handful of posters who see the glory days of Lutz and want a quick fix. Any negative thing that happens they want to start over. They are valid to feel how they want to feel but people who also see positive progress are also valid to feel how they feel. Personally I think the likelihood of poor hire who sets the program further is more likely than Ron not being successful with a roster a year older and more experienced.

The issue is the chemistry is players Ron brought in. So that doesn’t buy him an excuse. I’m happy with the wins but the challenges we see this year are the same challenges we have seen with Ron consistently which is inconsistent defense and long offensive dry spells. Last night was better but we still let them back in the game with a drought and don’t get me started with with the 8 min scoring drought the previous game. Happy with 2 wins and my bar stays the same he has to get a bye in the tournament and win something there. Get the bye and make it to championship game and he earns another year. If not, time to reset.

As for a more experienced roster - in college basketball that can no longer be an expectation. Every year you have to rebuild a roster and Ron’s track record with chemistry and bringing kids in isn’t great.

Where have you guys been? If you are with RonBot, are you on the fence with no opinions too? Are you going to take a stand on Ron today, or disappear again tonight? North Texas isn’t a push over, but they did push Ron around last game. A two game winning streak and I decided to give him some short timer glory, but not now. If you paid attention to the last pole and this thread, the only handful you speak of these days are for Ron, and not the other way around.

Except we havent improved. We have played a bad schedule and gotten worse as the season went on. Beating bad teams is not a sign of improvement

I like the wins and realize I have no effect on if Ron stays or goes but those 2 back to back wins are losses without Aly hitting 3- 3’s with the shot clock run down to 3 seconds or less. Some would say great coaching and others would say prayers answered. A Coach running the same systems that never alter in year 5 and each and every game going for 6 to 10 minutes without a basket is real concerning. Also college basketball is a guards game and our focus on offense is a 7 foot center 17 feet from the basket running the offense and leading in assists. My other problem is our identity ( I guess) is defense but we are a bad defensive team if our offense does not run down the shot clock. If Ron stays he has 2 scholarships left that better be home runs before we enter the AAC.

He’s terrible. I’m happy for you guys that you are pleased with being 7-9 in a crappy conference. I wish I could be that easy to please. I honestly do.

What would be a reasonable expectation for a Charlotte basketball fan in 2023? My expectations are distorted because I started following the program in 1998. If the team doesn’t make the NCAA tournament or NIT what is considered a successful season? Lutz and Major both accomplished NIT appearances in their final five years with the program. What has Sanchez accomplished? If post season play is not accomplished in 2023 how about 2024? Five years is enough time for a coach to at least show flashes of brilliance.

They don’t even turn on all the Halton lights so it might look like a quasi packed highschool gym. A nice quasi packed highschool gym currently with a dim future ,
