Fire Ron Sanchez

I guess I need to dumb it down so some if you can understand better. It’s not my job, or anyone else on here to make a decision about Ron one way or another, except Mike Hill. No matter how much some of you rant and rail. If you can’t except it, then it’s on you.

Again for some if you that seem to have problems understanding what is written. I have never said Ron is the answer and should continue to be our coach going forward. I’ve only said that with covid, mandating a 3-4 year time frame was not fair for any coach trying to restart a program. I never said give him a lifetime pass, so don’t make things up.

I have said, and repeat so that some of you might finally be able to grasp the concept, is that we are not a destination location, in a destination conference and won’t be in the AAC. It doesn’t matter who our coach is and what style of ball we play. It sucks, but that is the jist of what college basketball is for the majority of G5 programs currently.

We will never be any more than the way you see us if the people leading our AD & basketball program see us the same way. With that outlook & attitude we all might as well give up. But it seems like Mike & Ron agree with you so the rest of us are probably just wasting our time & energy supporting a hopeless cause.

Ron definitely sees it the same way you do. He pretty much came right out & said it in the interview I posted from earlier today. Said that our fans need to adjust our expectations with the Portal & NIL & that at our level as long as you are moving forward & not backwards you are doing good. Also said that a coach has absolutely no control over players leaving in the portal. Mike apparently sees things the same way. Crazy how all of our conference peers are facing the same obstacles & that doesn’t stop them from winning conference tournament games, the NIT & going to the Final Four.

Yeah, I listened to that interview. For starters, seems weird to do that interview kind of out of market.

Based on what Ron said, I could see Ron getting a year 7 regardless of what happens next year. He feels the heat, but it sounds like Mike is the engineer on this train stoking the fire box. Can’t believe the rhetoric here being all Ron.

Why is Ron our ride or die?

That interview bottomed me out.

So if that is the case, what is the point in all of this?

I don’t disagree about the things stacked against us, but if it is as dire as you say, We are wasting money supporting this and our students are getting a raw deal.

And you are right it isn’t our job to keep or fire Ron. You know what is? Our responsibility to our households to determine how long to support the program financially and time. I don’t have to support athletics. Hell I’m getting ready to write a nearly $1500 check for insurance for the ambulance. If the pov is we can’t win and our AD is ok with us not winning then I am wasting my money and time. If I want to help kids get an education there are other avenues. If our AD and coaching staff isn’t committed to finding ways to win then why I am committed to them?

Not to mention starting football wasn’t our job, but we made it happen. Getting an AD change happen wasn’t our job, but we made that happen too.

Copying this link here too. If you care about basketball, I think it’s worth taking a listen here. Ron joins at roughly 21 minutes in.

Yeah, well, I don’t understand why guys like Ted and you feel the need to post multiple duplicate responses to the same complaints

Are you ready for the IQ Test Challenge?

LOL. Here is my response to that:

I personally always love being called dumb by someone that doesn’t know the difference between accept and except.

I tend to agree unfortunately. Unreal.

If you know next year is going to be bad and you aren’t firing him now then I fully expect him to get year 7. If you know it will be bad and I know it will be bad and he knows it will be bad then how do you fire him for being what we all expect?

Chapel Hills finest.

Things would go completely Voodoo by that time, with Ron routinely being fired in effigy before athletic events and at other Niners gatherings

Well, he said we had our best year since 2001. Record wise that may be true. Pretty sure our teams from 2002-2005 would defeat our team from this past season on most days.
I have no disagreement with him that coaches’ jobs at the mid major level have been made more complicated and difficult by NIL and the portal. He commented both on the importance of winning and the process, so maybe those are conjoined in his mind.
The comment on winning was near the beginning in reference to tournament play and the comment on process near the end of the interview.

There are really only three explanations:

  1. Mike is stubborn and doesn’t want to admit he fucked up by firing both of his first hires the same year
  2. Mike is not good at his job
  3. we can’t afford a buyout

#2 can work in tandem with #1 and #3, so more than one answer is acceptable.

We’re not good and some people seem to be fine with it. I’m not. Nothing more I can say. I given my opinion and I guess it really doesn’t matter.

I’ll tailgate at football because it fun but that’s about the extent of it to me. Guess I’ve become what I always hated. I’m now a sawdust fan. I’ll come out of the woodwork if we win

Don’t be hard on yourself. I’m sure you’ve paid your dues. Enjoy the spring game.

Oh god. He’s back.

I thought you crawled away from this thread when you wimped out on responding Tuesday after the transfer portal entries were announced.

I guess you figured enough time has passed.

It hasn’t.

Let me dumb this down for you Ted.

This is a fan message board for those that love forty niner sports. This is the place for us to rant and rail about everything.

If you don’t understand and accept that then that’s on you Ted.

By the way. You used except instead of accept. Please check your grammar and stop embarrassing yourself.

I’m not going to pose the question to you again because you have proven you’re not going to answer it.

You’re going to continue to contribute nonsensical posts to this board.

And you’re going to continue calling for the forty niner community to accept mediocrity.

I’m seriously thinking about muting this guy because he makes no sense whatsoever.

Just listened to the interview.

I gotta tell ya fellas - Every single thing Ron Sanchez said makes perfect sense…

…if he was the Coach at Western Carolina.

That was unbelievably depressing. Going off of that, he has himself and Mike Hill sold on the idea that we should all just be happy to be even sniffing the asses of NIT teams.

That was one of the most depressing moments of my entire 49er fandom. The glee he has in pounding his chest over his 18-14, 1st round CUSA tournament exit season was nauseating. And then he had the audacity to say it was the best 49er season since 2001.

Get the fuck out of here. You don’t even know or respect our history Ron. We finished in 2nd place in 2004-05 in a MUCH better CUSA and produced the 2004-05 CUSA POY. In a league that featured a #4 (AP Poll) Louisville team and received 4 NCAA bids, 3 of which were #7 or better.

That 49er team won 21 games and only lost 8 in that league that had 4 teams in the RPI top 50, which was the measuring stick of the day. 33-5 Louisville was #10 in the RPI, 25-8 Cincinnati was #24, 22-11 UAB was #46. And little old Charlotte? #36. Four teams in the RPI top 50, and 6 teams (#64 DePaul and #75 TCU) were in the top 75. Hell, 3 more were in the top 100 (Memphis, Houston, and Marquette).

But wait… you know what’s worse? The year before was even better!!

We finished TIED for 1st in the #5 rated league in the country, which sent not 1, not 2, not 3, not 4, not 5… Yes 6, SIX !!! teams to the NCAAs.

Ron, don’t you dare compare your shitty 18-14 first round CUSA tournament flame out to that. Or your inability to keep any decent player on the roster. You’ve now lost Jahmir Young, Brice Williams, Aly Khalifa, and hell, even Cooper Robb, who almost beat you by himself in your precious participation trophy exhibition tournament.

Ron, what’s the worst of all is that every bit of your excuse making involves things that EVERY OTHER PROGRAM has to deal with, and they are not using these things to justify their mediocrity the way you are. They are adapting and overcoming. You said it yourself, Dusty May kept his team together. That’s why they won the most games in program history and made their first final 4 while you are sitting at home looking for softball questions and ass kissing on some backwater radio station that you know, like you, is just happy to be here. That interview was as soft as baby turds. Just like you.

Fuck off Ron. You suck.
