(SLU president Rev. Lawrence) Biondi gladly pointed out his favorite things about the building: the seats, some padded, some plain plastic, all a shade of blue ("It's important we have comfortable seats," he said), the LED "ribbon" board that circles the interior of the building, the sound system, the flashing blue light he had put on the roof that will be turned on to signal wins by the Billikens. "You can see it 15 to 20 miles," Biondi said.
Biondi is especially proud of the four 14-foot-by-45-foot video boards in each corner of the building that take the place of a central scoreboard hanging over midcourt.
How do they get Barry Manilow?! What is the seating capacity? Don’t think it is as functional as our arena but is a very nice looking arena, definitely a step up.
Frankly, that’s beautiful. There’s a lot of talk in Lincoln about moving the basketball teams out of the Devaney Center and building a new facility in the downtown/Haymarket area, and having a practice facility. I would be happy with an exact copy of this place with red seats. The capacity is a downgrade, but I would love the atmosphere of this place filled up every single game.
This reminds me, I was watching one of SLU’s games and they had a guy on there talking about the arena’s amenities. He said that they had heard alot of complaints about SLU gear, and that the new fan store was set up so you could pick out the design/ logos you want on a shirt or something, and they can make it right there. Anyone else see anything on this?? We could definitely use something like that in our new bookstore at the new Student Union.
I don’t know if there is any way structurely to renovate Halton, but it ought to be considered to produce more/better seats closer to the court. Removing that track would help leaps and bounds. Seems like you could fill in 2 of the tunnels with seats also. Is 4 necessary or code?

Folks have been suggesting this since Halton opened…You would think it’s a no-brainer.
PS: LED ribbon is very nice touch-> Possible addition to Halton one day?
They could probably convert the one corner of Halton (under the retired jerseys) into a team store that could be accessed from inside or from outside on non-game days. The area is pretty much a waste of space except for a place for smokers to bypass on the way to smoke.
I know there will be a new bookstore in the new student union, but a team store would be nice.
^ That is a pretty good idea for a space to do that. Or the game room. I heard they are moving it out of there when we get the new SU.
I heard somewhere that the gameroom will become our “Hall Of Fame” so to say. It’s a good idea, considering our trophies are currently on display in Belk Gym.
Can anyone confirm?
I do love the idea of converting that one space into a team store, it is a useless spot except for the bathrooms.

This is the last I heard in a letter from Judy last year.
Part of our strategic plan in regard to facilities includes fundraising to build a Hall of Champions, a tennis facility, and seating improvements to softball. I am hopeful that we will be able to move aggressively on all of these projects.
Hope so, since a Niner athletics HOF area/room was supposed to be a part of the SAC from the get go. Embarrassing to go to Davidson and see their nice HOF room in Baker and know that we don’t have anything comparable at this point.

I’ve been waiting for both of these (as well as atleast 3-4 luxury boxes—cut from the salons upstairs) to be added to Halton since 1996. I also like the idea of more seats being added to the track area!
