First Road Series this Weekend at St Joes

The Niners go on teh road for their 1st weekend series of the year today. They will be playing St Joes at Campbell Field, the same site that the A-10 Tourney will be. I like getting the new guys a chance to play there befoer we have to go back and take care of business in the tourney.

I hope we brought our brooms with us.

The probable starting pitchers for the series are as follows...

Fri.: RJr. RH Andrew Smith (5-1, 1.65, 35 K, 10 BB) vs. So. RH Kyle Mullen (3-3, 2.45, 28 K, 10 BB)

Sun.: Fr. RH Tyler Barnette (3-0, 0.91, 24 K, 8 BB) vs. Jr. RH A.J. Holland (1-4, 4.98, 29 K, 23 BB)

Saint Joseph's, 11-17 overall (3-3 A10), is coming off a 4-3 win over Temple Wednesday. Last weekend, the Hawks dropped two of three to George Washington on the road. Right-hander Kyle Mullen (3-3) posts a 2.45 ERA following 47.2 innings on the mound. Chad Simendinger (2-2), a right-hander, has seen 30 innings of action in six appearances, recording a 3.90 ERA. Leading the Hawks at the plate is Greg Kumpel who has a batting average of .424. The center fielder also leads the team with 18 RBI.

8-1 in the conference would be nice.

Today’s game has been declared a rainout. They will try to play one game tomorrow and two on Sunday.

Niners sweep St Joe. Our conference record is now 8-1.

Not just a sweep, a 31-3 beat down over 2 days. I’m glad we got to play a double header at the A-10 Tourney site today. It gets the guys used to that tourney atmosphere.
