No offense 2K, but I hope 88 is right about this one.[/quote]I would love for our coach to be named Friday, but just hearing it’s not the truth. We’ll find out soon enough.
From everything ive been able to gather. It sounds like Chuck Amato is our guy. Also ironically his coaching record is 49-37…
Speaks the truth Jobi-Wan does.
I hope it’s Thursday…my birthday!! :-* ;D
Mine is Sunday. We gonna have to work together on this one, but we can make this news happen!

“I would love for our coach to be named Friday”
but not ‘bill’!
Chuck’s tenure on the field at State was less than impressive once he lost Rivers, however he got a ton of money raised and built big time facilities there. He’s definitely the promoter you need and he has big time coaching experience. He could be really good if he was the hire.
“What’s wrong with having dreams!!”
We are already talking with potential coaches. Nobody is coaching right now so we should be able to go down our list at our discretion. Let’s say our #1 guy is very interested. Wouldn’t he want to go ahead and get his hands on the wheel sooner rather than later?
The sooner we get our guy, the better I like the chances that we got the guy we wanted.

Dang, you get the Super Bowl on yours. I should get “the announcement” on mine.
i hope it’s Amato!!! but judy scares me( prob be someone unheard of (look at bball) or maybe the first ever womans coach haha) , hopefully she proves me wrong!

I used to! Not anymore. Stupid NFL. Super Bowl is first Sunday of February now. I remember back when it was last Sunday of January, SF 49ers (my team) won on the 29th. Was a nice b-day present.

Amato raised a ton of money at State not only because he was a good salesman, but because he was a State grad/guy. He was able to pull money out of some tightwads for that reason alone. He was also one heluva a recruiter. If he would have had a QB to go with some of those teams post-Rivers, he might not would have lost his job.
The only thing about Amato that scares me is that he had LOTS of off-the-field issues with his players. I don’t want our teams to be in the headlines for that, no matter how good the talent that he may bring in.
I’m not at all interested or impressed with hiring anyone with one foot already in the grave. We need someone with the energy and charisma to relate to 18-22 year old kids and who brings instant credibility to the program. He also needs to bring a 7 year commitment at a minimum. Chuck is NOT that guy!
What young stud coach will give us instant credibility? Credibility comes with experience.
I didn’t like Amato while he was at State but I would love to see him here, because he brought bigtime players to NCSU, helped build their program and is a bigger hire than anyone else I think we could get at this point. He’d be a great person to get us to the D1 level.
Agreed. Chuck still has 10 good years of coaching left IMO. He is supposedly cancer free and more motivated than ever
I just want a coach that is not happy with FCS.
I think Amato or Bowden would show our intent to expedite our FBS aspirations.
clt announces that pam ward will be our first head coach.
I think Amato would be great! He has FBS experience in a legit conference, has coached and recruited well, and did alot for the school. There is no doubt we need a guy to hold this programs hand and walk it through the baby steps. No one currently here has football program ins- and outs. I think it would be a grave mistake to not jump on an open guy (Amato or similar) if the chance is given. There is still just WAY TOO much stuff that has to be worked out post-hire that I would not feel comfortable if a newbie was taking over. Major was coming into a program, maybe not the best but still a program. This GUY will be making a program from scratch.
