I guess Judy and Phil will get the last laugh.
Since the world is ending in 2012…Charlotte Football in 2013 will never take place.
Some people are just always one step ahead of everyone else.

I like the “Preferred Requirements.” That might rule some people out.

Slightly more info on the uni’s job site, such as they will start reviewing apps 20 Jan 2011.

Gold Mine has the press release. I’m sure the comments will be epic soon enough.

I’m applying tomorrow
Channel 36 reported at 6:25 that 30 applications have been submitted. “Some with experience, some with none at all.” :o Bet some are just bogus pranks, ya think?.
Okay how many on this board put in applications???

I wanted to…
Anyone else think that is unfortunately low?
There are tons of assistant coaches/coordinators, former coaches and head coaches in lower tiers. This is a division I head coaching position, not many of those out there.

I don’t think the number really matters, ID. My guess is that there is already a short list of who the AD wants. So long as those on that list applied, that’s what matters. I doubt many of the other recent openings in D1 got many applications, either.

This whole posting the job on-line is a farse. The real candidates are in discussion directly with the AD and the winner will add his name into the on-line posting only when he knows he has the job.

totally agree. it is a “don’t call us, we’ll call you” kind of deal.
I just figured the application process would have drawn more than 30, and if it did that detail would not have been released.
if the application process were the ‘real road’ to selection, you can bet there would have been manymany more. but the people we might even be mildly interested in would NEVER 'apply. they’d get themselves ‘nominated’ by somebody with credibility in the world of ncaa football. that’s just how top-level positions get filled.
Since the coach will be a university employee, state law required it to be posted. It’s just procedural. As with any posting, the lead candidates are already known.
so all of you who replied to the ad are very likely… sool. sorry!
More than likely true, but didn’t O’Brien have to call NC State to get the job? Here’s to hoping that a few qualified candidates made their names known in this process.
