At this rate, not a single stadium/arena/building is going to be named after anyone in 10 years… Everyone famous with money will have been accused of something by that point.

Stanford University is safe. It was named for Leland Stanford, Jr., the son of a California businessman who made a fortune off the miners during the Gold Rush. Leland Junior died young, before he could transgress sufficiently to require renaming the university.

Maybe the Stadium can remain Richardson Stadium if another Richardson who has given to the school can be found. Jerry would appreciate that. He’s going to remain a billionaire.

Wofford just opened Jerry Richardson Indoor Stadium last month, so it’s on their minds too - not to mention his signature prominently displayed on the hardwood!

I can’t say that I’ve ever read a naming rights contract. I wonder if there is some kind of morality clause? If so, I can’t imagine the $ would be refundable to the bad actor.
