I know that you guys do not currently have a football team but I working on getting one. How is the progress coming? It’s a solid posibility in the near future?

Why? You guys want to start a Home and Home?

I would be all for it. I have family in Raleigh so I went down with 10,000 other Husker fans to the game at Wake Forest this past season. Had a blast.

There’s nothing quite like it. Especially for us Huskers, as we turn our stadium into the third-largest city in the state on gameday. We pack 60,000+ in for spring scrimmages, even.
As far as the Wake Forest game last season, it was quite an impressive site to turn a stadium 1,500 miles away into a true Sea of Red. The Wake fans I talked to said they never had anything like it, even when conference teams play. I’ve also had a fun time traveling to Texas, Texas A&M, the Alamo and Cotton Bowls to see Dear ol’ Nebraska U.

I’m impressed.
That is a prime example of many of our vision. I would also gladly welcome a bunch of you guys down here, having opposing fans ALWAYS makes the game more fun… We just have to make sure that there are a lot more of us thank there are of you

In football or baseball, we’ll take that challenge to outnumber you guys. In basketball, give us a few more years with Doc :shades:

so you boast a good baseball program? (college baseball is something I’m honestly just getting into within the past year or so)
nebraska fans are well known for being the best traveling fans in the nation.
the wake game was very impressive.
The Nebraska crowd in Winston-Salem was impressive. But it was so HOT that afternoon. It took 3 days for me to recover.

Nebraska has built up its baseball program the last 15 years or so, and is a frequent postseason contender and has made it Omaha twice over the past 6-7 years.
Of course, Omaha and the College World Series being so close doesn’t hurt local support for the team.

Agreed - someone could of made a killing walking around the parking lots after the game with cold bottled war, since the school didn’t think it was important to provide it themselves inside the stadium. My group (and most Husker groups) planned poorly and we only had beer, which we had no interest in at that point.
I lucked out with my seats… I was top row of the pressbox side, with a cool breeze and shade during the game.
You’re up early! They were unprepared for the heat for sure. If I remember correctly the news said 4 were admitted to the hospital and EMS folks treated another 40 or so. You were there, there probably were many more who had heat related issues that left or were strong enough to get through it.
Wake Forest had Pepsi to give a bottle of water to everyone the next week, of course it was about 25 degrees cooler that day!
I’m actually hoping that a couple of Huskers, Mike Minter and Mike Rucker, will help us promote getting a football team. They’ve been to a few of our b-ball games over the years. Minter used to live in the University area. Either would be a great candidate to be a spokesman for Charlotte 49er Football.

a good friend of mine is friends with Minter, so I asked about this scenario.
He wouldn’t rule it out, but did say he’d be surprised if Minter would be very active in this effort. He’s not against it, but is very focused on his growing business ventures in Cabarrus County…and they are getting very big.
I would love to do a home and home with Nebraska. Back to reality, we might get a 2 for one deal with them if we used BoA for our home game. What is Nebraska’s normal gaurentee for visiting teams? In the early years we need to get paid!
