David (Tucson, AZ): Doug, I really respect you and your analysis. However, I gotta ask you...how can you say that the St. Joseph's Hawk is the one mascot you wish you could be?! He is the most annoying thing in the world and everytime I want to see him I want to punch him in the face...please explain your reasoning so I can keep my respect for you...

Gottlieb: (5:34 PM ET ) 1) He is on full scholarship.
2) He is in shape, not like Sparty where they are puffed up costumes…remember the wings must never stop flapping.
3) Great student section.
4) Because he is well known, he is always on TV, good for the parents and women…
“Hey did you see me on TV?”
5) a HAWK is a bird of Prey…hunter is better than hunted.

I always admired that hawk.

That hawk is one of the strangest things I have ever seen in all of sports. I’m mesmerized when I see him in Halton…as weirded out as I feel, I find myself watching for long periods of time, like all I need is to see him stop flapping for just a second so I can move on with my life. Very strange what it does to me.

Anybody want to pitch in to buy a Hawk costume? We can have someone come onto the floor flapping at half-time of the St Joe’s game then stop and sit in their seats until the team comes out.
