Fordham Postgame

We took some ugly 3s tonight that looked like set plays. Were they? TWill took 2 or 3 of them. This game should not have been this close, but I’ll take the win.

Our defense has not looked this good since the '73-'77 era. Winning ugly is better than losing pretty.

Oh this too - this has happened a few times over recent home games. The refs go to video to see something with out any explanation. If refs are going to do this I think they should have to do what NFL refs do. Address the crowd.

Awesome to be 15-2! My input:

-Mayfield is really coming on strong.
-If a team is truly playing as a team individuals will have their ups and downs and the team will still be successful. A guy may have an off night shooting, might have a bad matchup or could be the focus of the opposing team’s game plan. I think this is one reason we are 15-2 and we think one player looks bad one game and then bad the next.
-A team going against a team with a record of 15-2 and now 3-0 in conference will play as hard as it will all season. We will get the best from each opposing team and that will just get more intense as the year continues.
-No matter how much Coach Major stresses it, we will come out flat against teams that we are ā€œsupposedā€ to beat. It’s human nature. This is a factor Major didn’t have to worry about his first 2 years.

It’s on our public address to explain WTF is going on, but they never do.

The 3 on the previous possession? WTF? They hit a 3 we came down the court and THEN they go to the review? They are worse than I thought.

I didn’t see the game tonight. Personally, I’m just fed up with refs. College basketball, NFL, high school soccer, high school basketball, club soccer. I just don’t understand and guess I never will understand how many bad calls are made.

Will never understand. :o :o :o :o :o >:D >:(

They may as well have waited until the next time out. To top it off, I personally thought the guy was nowhere near having a toe on the 3 point line. They were quite proud of their decision, though, as one ref went around repeating the old arms over the head three point signal about three times including right in Major’s face. I’d have told the SOB that yea, I saw you signal it the first two times.

UGLY. >:( We won. ;D 15-2. 3-0. :stuck_out_tongue: Happy now. ;D Gonna get a LOT tougher beginning with richmond. ??? Enjoy now.

I asked the official what the deal was and he said that Major had asked for it.

Well, except for Manti Te’o’s girlfriend. Can’t beat her. She’s dead.

…and nonexistent.

Are you drunk? What a classless post

At least we only have what, at most 17 games left with these refs? We can say good by to A10 officials. Especially the old guy that came out of the retirement home tonight to call the game. He hasn’t made a good call in the time we have been in the A10. He received the blunt of my cussing when I was a student on the front row. He can’t even run up and down the court, and has a pretty pronouced limp, along with a very pronouced pot belly…guess physicals aren’t necessary in the A10.
Now we can see how good CUSA refs are next year.

For the 5298735987237928735th time, there is no such thing as conference affiliated referees in college basketball. A10 refs = ACC = BIG = CAA = SEC refs

referees are regional and not affiliated with a particular conference like football. We are stuck with these referees as long as we play DI basketball.

Time to step it up on the road at Richmond! Who all is coming?

I love how Henry was playing intense defense until the end. Staring down the opposition and going for steals til the final second. This team plays for forty minutes.

If you had told me that we would have gotten 20 points from JTT and T-WIll I would have told you we ran them out of the gym.

Glad to see T-Will find that mid range shot and JTT is a nice set shooter. Mayfield had what is becoming a typical outing for him.

Hard to take too much away defensively. Yes we held Gaston to three points, but we doubled him the moment he got the ball freeing up Frazier to come in and score which he did with gusto. Frazier had 23 against us which is the second most he has had all year. He shot 50% and 43% from beyond the arc. Not sure where the D was there.

PH and T-Will have to stop shooting threes. They are now each less than 15% and when that happens you just need to stop. Braz also needs to reel in his threes. No more than two misses a game. We cant shoot deep and its about time we stopped. We could throw the ball back at Major and it would be be roughly as effective at generating points.

I did not understand why Braz sat as long as he did. When he was in he may not have been scoring, but we were getting the rebounds. Once he went out they were competing for the rebounds just as hard as we were. Major should have recognized that and have left Braz in or have played Thorne. He keeps saying ā€œThe game is the best teacher.ā€ Ok Major I will call your bluff… PLAY THORNE!

Hard to figure this team out. The team that beat La Salle may have gotten lazy in the second half, but they could beat anyone in the A-10. This team vs Fordham could not beat most teams in the A-10. I just don’e know what to think.

Also the refs were horrible but they seemed equally horrible to both parties. Lots of make up calls. Hard to get too mad at them for that.

In defense of Major not playing Thorne this game, we were only leading by about 2 most of the game. When we pulled away to 8 it never lasted more than a minute. If we had been able to keep that much of a lead, I’d be right there with you. Unfortunately because our games are so close we dont get as much opportunity to give Thorne or even Benny much experience.

Joe Demayo has done a total of 17 BCS conference games since 1996, according to statsheet. None of which came from the ACC or the SEC. Hasn’t even called a CUSA game. His 17 came in the big ten and none since 2006. There is a reason for that.
But either way, if he is regional by his game chart, we are rid of him.
The other 2 we could possibly see, but neither has called a CUSA game.

(of course this hinges on how relevant statsheet is. The main omission in games called is no non conference games are included. But i don’t recall seeing Demayo call any of our non conference games )

We won. That’s all that matters.
