We won another ugly one. We made a team with a 227 rpi look very good. I would have never thought they were that bad by how they played tonight.
15-2 so let’s keep winning. Had me worried a little bit though and I thought I wouldn’t have to this game.
JT Thompson gave a great showing tonight. His jumper in the first half was straight butter. And his put back dunk was nasty. Thought he was going to break his leg on that landing.
Braswell with 7 points. Needs to go up a lot stronger with the ball. He pulled 8 rebounds. Was blocked several times.

From what I was able to tell between refreshing my browser and/or waiting for the video feed to buffer (thanks Xfinity!) it seemed like Fordham was tossing up a lot of threes, leading to long rebounds… which I think may have skewed the boards in their favor.
As for the worry… get used to it. I just don’t think we’re built to blow the doors off of a gym. If we see a blowout with this team, I think we’re on the unfortunate end of it.
Our schedule is about to get a whole lot tougher. Glad to see 15-2 and we are playing hard.
I’ll be at two of the next three… so of course they’re going to bring their A game :rolleyes:

We really need Bras to find it again, it was hard enough watching Derrio Green lose all confidence last year in his senior year.

I honestly can’t remember the last game Braswell had a great game. I know he has but his recent struggles is all that comes to mind.

Well, except for Manti Te’o’s girlfriend. Can’t beat her. She’s dead.

I still can’t figure out if our defense is very good or if the teams we have played just suck at shooting.

We held Gaston to 1-12 and he was pissed. Meet the new Niners Chris.
TWill played better than he has in a few games. I hope this leads to better, more confident play for him. Clark had another excellent outing. Why do we put Benkovic in and not get him a shot? What else is he there for?

I guess so but really seems that the other team just suck at shooting a lot of the time. I’ll say 60-40 with our def leading the way.
Our help defense is excellent. Our perimeter D is okay depending on who we have out there. Our Transition D is meh to bad.
PH and Mayfield turned the heat way up on D in the final minutes. PH had a really rough offensive game but found a way to win the game with D. Mayfield was great all around aside from that one brick of a 3. The two of them harassed Fordham’s guards so much in the final few possessions that I almost felt sorry for them.
Good to see Bras finally show up late in the game. He had 8 very important boards and those 7 pts. Also good to see TWill get his mid range mojo back. Rest of the team played hard and did their thing. Clayton had a less than his usual beast mode game - I thought I saw his knee wrapped?
15-2. For years we complained that we lost to too many teams we shouldn’t lose to. That’s not happening this year so far. And I love the composure of the team because they know they can win close games with defense. I realize that we are a team that will struggle at times on offense, but I am very pleased with this team. Love the direction we’re headed in.
This. Plus 4 TOs. I forgot to post it. This is his worst ever game against us and his worst game against anyone this year.
You don’t hold Chris Gaston to 1-12 if your defense is mirrors and smokescreen. He came into the game averaging like 22 ppg against us.
Probably the last time we play Fordham, good riddance!
I love watching us play defense and I hate watching us play offense. It seems we only get 1 or 2 easy shots a game and everything else is a challenge. I love that we are winning - but dear god our games can be painful to watch. Winning games is more fun that losing them but our games are just so stressful.
I also want to call out the officials again. Where do these guys come from?? The Y? Intramurals? Youth league? Church League? Have they ever watched a basketball game? I dont know what to comment on - the uneven calls, the no calls, the make up calls, the Fordam player with the ball traveling 4 feet sliding on the floor with the ball, rolling over and calling a timeout, the giving them another 15 seconds in the huddle with no T - I can go on.
15-2 feels good, stressful, but good.
Why were the official reviewing the screen on that put back on us after a miss? I didn’t know what in the world they were looking at.
