Bobby said in the preseason that Fordhamâs coach was already looking forward to this game. Definitely an interesting game, Fordham will be fired up like never before, their first time on any national TV at home. Still, a game we should win, it will be interesting.
I believe this is the only nationally televised game theyâve ever had at home. Theyâve had a decent conference season season too⌠it wonât be an easy game.

I guess weâre kind of like the Bearcats game at Halton every year during the CUSA days then.
Whats is Fordhamâs offensive style?
Havenât witnessed first hand but:
Lutz mentioned they like to ârun and gunâ Games are routinely in 70âs or 80âs unless playing Richmond or St. Louis.
They appear similarly matched as far as:
They have two guards that average 16 and 13 points both dishing 3 assissts each/game (similar to DA and Lee)
One 6-8 forward averaging 16 pts and 7.4 rebounds.
They have won 7 in a row at home and havenât lost since 12/01 to Iona (which has only lost 5 all year and 2 of those were at Kentucky and at S. Hall)
There 3 A-10 losses have come all on the road at UMASS, RI, and Xavier.
We should be able to pull out a W but it will not be easy. That crowd will be on top of the players the entire game. Should be a fun game to watch on TV.
The thing that scares me about the small gyms isnât the effect it has on the players, but on the intensity of the game and how the officials react to that. Plenty of times you see players who make an aggressive play that wouldnât be a foul in a boring game but when that crowd is pumping and jumping, the official âgets into itâ too and overreacts. Those are the types of situations where it seems like youâll see Curt pick up a few quick ones going aggressive on the boards and all of a sudden we could be in trouble while he sits half of a half.

Not a problem as long as our shooters are hitting their shots.

This smells an awful lot like prior years trips to St. Louis or ECUâŚthe negative side of my brain is wondering how weâll manage to blow this one, wish I could expunge that negative side!
Anyone notice how we haven't played well on Saturdays this season.
The guy's beat Dayton on a Saturday. The 1st half was terrible but the 2nd half looked damned good! A lot of hussle, blocked shots, and defense. I thought perhaps the guy's turned the corner with that game. Then came WF and the 28% FG shooting!
