Free throw shooting

that this team could shoot free throws in Conference USA games at at 73.1% clip? Their percentage for all games is 69.0% (397 of 575).

Current C-USA Team Free Throw Stats

  1. Louisville, 231 of 306, 75.5%
  2. Southern Mississippi, 185 of 252, 73.4%
    3. Charlotte, 226 of 309, 73.1%
  3. Tulane, 162 of 225, 72.0%
  4. Saint Louis, 137 of 194, 70.6%

That definitely bodes well for the conference tournament.

agree ft shooting has greatly improved, and we will need it in all of post season

 80% last night. Confidence is the difference

Withers was 66% though

Curt has been very good from the line in the latter part of the season. I can’t really complain too much about 10-15 for him. And that also tells me that he’s playing extremely aggressive on offense to get to the stripe that many times. Our free throw shooting has come a LONG way since the first few games of the season. Further proof that it’s just mental.

I would love to go back and read some of the posts from people about our team when we were struggling from the line how “Lutz didn’t make the team practice”.“we will never be a good free throw shooting team”,etc.

This is great to see. This has been my rant for years. It feels good to not get so worked up over this now that the guys see how easy and VERY productive hitting FTs are. Just ask UAB about yesterday’s game w/sincy. I watched a streach where they missed 7  in a row. They only lost by 3. I KNOW they’re sick about it.

2 of Curtis’ misses came after he was poked in the eye by a Tulane player.

For team FT % 70% is consider the minimum if a team is going to play at a high level. Nice to see our average come up -> More than 75% would be great!

For the folks who are doing the ‘I told ya so’s’, for get it. This is were the Niners should have been out of the gate.
