From our good friend at HoopScoop
There also is addition of 6’9 Gokham Sirin from Leonardtown (St. Mary’s Ryken) MD to the University of Charlotte’s recruiting class, which also already includes 6’8 Chris Braswell from Chatham (Hargrave Military) VA, 6’3 Derrio Green from Miami-Dade (JC) FL, and 6’6 K.J. Sherrill from Salisbury (West Rowan) NC and is now tied at #34, along with USC, on our list of the Top Recruiting Classes To-Date for the Class of 2009. We’re talking about somebody with size who can flat out shoot the lights out.? As a matter of fact, Sirin is so good at knocking down the outside shot that his high school coach compares him to Hedo Turkoglu and Peja Stojakovic.
Don’t shoot the messenger.

That’s good name confusion. Good to see our recruiting class is nationally recognized. I would image USC’s is not going to stay that high.

Why wouldnt USC stay that high, they’re gonna get a semester out of the #1 PG in the nation to transfer from two D-I schools. They are a shoe in for a top 40 recruiting class.

you don’t actually pay 45 dollars a month for a membership to that site do you lefty?

Anyway, what rankings on their 10 point scale did they give to our incoming players?

is this the same clown who said we had the #13 class 2 years ago?

I love the pub, but assigning a ranking purely on the basis of how many kids you ink is freaking gay.

Yep, number and individual ranking:

On our rating 1-10 rating scale a top five player nationally is worth 10 points, a top 10 player nationally is worth nine points, a player in the 11-40 range nationally is worth eight points, a player in the 41-70 range nationally is worth six points, a player in the 71-100 range nationally is worth four points, a player in the 101-300 range nationally is worth three points, a player in the 301-1000 range nationally is worth two points, and anybody not ranked among the top 1000 gets one point. Junior college and prep school are factored in as if they were the equivalent of a high school senior.

34??? Don’t understand their ranking system at all, we had 13 based on the number of stars rankings 2 years ago, and we well surpassed that this year and drop 20 spots…
We also have confirmed that Charlotte recently landed 6’7 Charlie Coley from Dodge City (JC) KS. And this too is big, because this athletic combo forward who has drawn Gerald Wallace-like comparisons is ranked #4 in the junior college ranks by Juco Junction.com. However, even more important, Coley and 6’7 Lamont Mack from Angelina (JC) TX, who is ranked #21 in the junior college ranks by Juco Junction.com, should provide the 49ers with the immediate quick fix that they will need to replace 6’5 Sr DeAngelo Alexander and 6’9 Sr E.J. Drayton, both of whom will graduate this spring. And, if that weren’t enough, Charlotte also has 6’7 An’Juan Wilderness from Lenoir (Patterson School) NC, 6’7 Gaby Ngoundjo from Little Rock (Christian) AR, and 5’9 Dijuan Harris from Hillsborough (JC) FL in this year’s recruiting class and 6’5 Frosh Charles Dewhurst, who red-shirted this past season, 6’0 Mike Gerrity, who transferred from Pepperdine and sat out this past season, and 6’11 Phil Jones, who sat out this past year and will be eligible in the fall, all waiting in the wings. In other words, it looks like 49ers assistant coaches Rob Moxley and Chris Cheeks are really getting it done on the recruiting trail and, as a result, it wouldn’t surprise us if this is one of the most improved teams in college basketball next season.
This is the 20 win team he predicted the most improved for and he was fairly accurate.

University of Charlotte. I love it.

to me, your recruiting class is how good the AVG rating is of the kids you sign

I’d rather sign 3 horses than 6 mediocre kids

btw, I love our class this yr. I just think that 13 class was a joke ranking.

Of course it was. But then the question becomes does the AD make mention of that information because it’s positive pub or do they surpress it because they know the ranking system is retarded?

Indeed. Only 5 can play at any one time. They seem to be forgetting that. 6 #4 recruits (by their ranking system) does not equal 3 #8 recruits.

I think you surpress it. Those who know it’s bogus won’t care that you are publicizing it, but those who don’t know the rankings are bogus will be pissed when they don’t get the product you advertised as a high ranked recruiting class.

Yep. If I’m not mistaken that same ranking had KSU fairly high like 40, even though they landed Beasley and Walker. But by their ranking system Beasley and Walker weren’t enough to out weigh our 6 players combined. I don’t see how you can have a top 15 class and not have one player in the top 60.

Of course it was. But then the question becomes does the AD make mention of that information because it's positive pub or do they surpress it because they know the ranking system is retarded?

I’ve wondered the same thing. You definitely want the positive pub, but it seems like you’re only setting yourself up for failure.

A totally useless website. There’s a reason many refer to it as “Poopscoop”!

Jeeze they’re stupid. Derrio didnt even go to Miami/Dade CC. Just do an internet search, dude! They charge for this?

That website is straight from 1996

Other Poopscoop “gems” in this class:

 1. Texas Southern
 2. Duke
 3. Middle Tennessee State

BTW, they have us as the top class in the A10 for 2009.

i think NN.N should come up with its own subscription-service rating site! we could fund the entire enterprise!

just a suggestion: i think we sould give 10 points for Total-Combined-Number-of-Three-Pointers-Attempted (last two years only). 9 for Average Height (subtract 3 for every PG over six feet). 8 for Anybody-from-Europe-Who-is-Six-nine-or Over (Seven-Feet if from Africa). 7 for White-Guys-Who-Can-Touch-the-Rim (minus 6 for a White-Guy-Who-Can’t). 6 if a Member-of-FCA…OR…the National-Honor-Society (the NCAA thing re graduation rates).
5 on down should be related to stuff like the level of competition, defensive stats (e.g., charges taken), trips to the line, defensive rebounds. you know the trivial things.
