If Xavier is gonna prove anything this year, now is there time to do it. They’ve got the Illini tonight and some team from Manhatten, Kansas coming to town in a few days (I already know who I’m pulling for).

Also of “regional” (not local) interest:

USF kicked Wake Forest’s butt. I checked out the Wake boards and there’s more negativity over there than over here. They think USF is a mid-major (forget the fact they’re in the Big East and played in a bowl game this year).

Without doing any research at all, I wouldn’t necessarily disagree with that label for USF for hoops. Overall, obviously you already made the point that it’s ridiculous. But for hoops, I don’t know, it’s debatable and I’d be mad if I was them too

(remember, a lot of those people still think they have Tim Duncan type of tradition going on, and it wasn’t TOO long ago they were a legit top 5 team nationally, so that all plays into it - whereas around here we dropped down from a one-and-done team to the current state of affairs a couple weeks ago - a drop that isn’t as drastic).

Are you trying to tell us Clemson is also a mid-major in hoops? USF is in the BE now. That’s not exactly a mid-major conference.

And also played in the Muffler Bowl against NC State last year.

I must mention in addition of deafeating East Carolina in the PapaJohns.com bowl last week, the Bulls defeated well-loved UNC-Chapel Hill in Kenan Stadium this season, the game that determined Bunting’s fate.

2 years ago with Chris Paul they were ranked #1 in the country, so yes they have fallen very quickly.

They have almost redefined the term “fallen”. By comparison, their fall makes ours look not quite as bad.
