Depends on how likely you think we are to beat these teams versus which will look like a "better loss". If we win tonight, I'd rather us face St. Joe's, because I think X is the better, more consistent team.
#7 Tulsa (19-12, 8-8) vs #3 Houston (23-8, 11-5), Conference USA Tournament, 7:00
HP, it’s Tulsa vs. #6 UTEP (19-12, 8-8). The latter beat Houston 80-77.

Miami is probably in. Va Tech is more on the bubble.

A Miami win would probably be better for us.

UNC-CH 82, FSU 70.

One down, about 50 more to go. Keep it rolling for the Niners!

So according to RealtimeRPI, Tulsa is currently at 105. So if they win tonight, that probably moves them in to the top 100 (particularly after they get to face Memphis in the final). That would be nice to have one fewer 100+ loss.

Agreed, but on the other hand if St Joes beats X, we beat Temple but then lose to St Joes, I think that would end all bubble talk for the Niners. I guess it depends on if you think the Niners can get an at large bid without having to win the A10.

Win #2 in the Niners favor.

Mich St 67, OSU 60.

Normmm, I like your optimism, but most of those “Bubble” teams you’re on the lookout for are in for sure already.

West Virginia, Arkansas, Miami, Pitt and Kentucky are all mega locks. No way they leave any of them out.

The other ones? Maybe. Ohio State could have played themselves out. That’ll be close. A&M probably doesn’t have much of a shot, and SDSU has no chance either.

Keep the faith, though! Take all the help we can get, for sure.
West Virginia, Arkansas, Miami, Pitt and Kentucky are all mega locks. No way they leave any of them out.
Why?

Why? OK, that’s fairly simple.

First of all:

PITT (21)
MIAMI (26)
WVU (27)

Those are their RPI’s next to them. No team with an RPI that high has EVER been left out. Especially not one from the ACC or Big East.

Consider them in. Not even close.

The other two?

ARKANSAS (22-10, 9-7 SEC) - RPI is 41 - They’re 5-5 vs. Top 50 - Two wins over Vandy, Miss. State, Florida, Ole Miss, Oral Roberts (Tourney team)
KENTUCKY (18-11, 12-4 SEC) - RPI is 47 - Strength of Schedule is 13th - Won 11 of last 13 - Also 5 wins vs. Top 50 - Wins over Tenn, Vandy, Florida, Miss and Arkansas

Arkansas’ case is super-strong. That RPI is nice and their record over Top 50 is nicer.

UK obviously has the bad losses (Gardner-Webb), but they have 12 SEC wins … so far. And their SOS is huge.

I’d be SUPER shocked if any of these five were left out.

My 2 - or maybe 3 - cents.

actually No.21 Missouri St has been left out…but I agree no BCS team will be left out with an RPI that high
