Golfers begin NCAA Championship Today
Small article in the Observer this morning listed the local teams standings after the first round, including us at 13, Duke at 14 and stopping there…hmmm. I believe UNC and GT are somewhere in the 27-30th range.
Must have been a late score for them.

And for what it’s worth, the Winston-Salem Journal had a big article and mentioned EVERY TEAM EXCEPT CHARLOTTE.

I just looked at the website and it looks like they haven’t updated today’s tee times yet.

You have to click on round 2… we tee off at 4:29 ET.

I've sent them TWO e-mails in the past about using "Charlotte" and not "UNCCharlotte" when talking about our sports program, but haven't gotten a single reply.

Conspiracy theory!!

:fastgun:

Shoot, I remember at the game last season in Winston they had UNC Charlotte on their electric sign board outside of the seating area in the coliseum.

There is a pic of Hedin on the individual leaderboard.

It a little offcentered though. Click on the red P beside his name.

We are… clap clap… CHARRRLOTTE!

If you guys are following, we are on the cusp and fading fast. Let’s hope they turn it around the last few holes. Need 3 birdies.

currently tied with tarholes for 18th but we still have a couple players on the course. i guess the observer will finally also show the tarhole score if they finish ahead of us.

"Missing the cut at 10-over were Charlotte and North Carolina." Something like that?

^ how about UNC CHapel Hill?
^ how about UNC CHapel Hill?
Or, “UNC Charlotte was joined in mediocrity at plus-10 by UNC-Chapel Hill. Hyphen added for emphasis.”

whatever.

mike. i have a question for ya. someone stated the winston paper had big articles on the wake golf team and these tourneys. i checked them out on line and there was a large article about wake’s team in yesterday’s opening round. why can’t we get the same coverage? i imagine there are as many niner golf fans in charlotte as there deacon golf fans in winston.

i know you did that ONE article and it was pretty nice.
whatever.

Did you consider that perhaps that was their equivalent of the article we did, and they just waited another round to do it?

whatever.

This is a rare defense of the O: We’re not tearing it up with a chance to win like they are.

And I’d say there are few real “fans” of either team. Families and friends, and curious onlookers from the universities. Now, if Wake wins this thing, there’d be more interest, but the “fans” would still be mostly johnny-come-lately.

maybe you have a point. we choked big time.

Sheedy made bogey at the last. Niners finish at 11-over.

that’s exactly what i meant when i stated we have about as many fans as they do.

And we did as many long stories about a team with few real fans as the Winston paper did. Wake’s still playing, though, so they could pass us in that category.

i’ll have to take your word on that one. or let jimmyhat or another winston poster verify it. not a big deal.
