Good Durham or Chapel Hill Restaurant

I am taking the wife out for our anniversary and wanted to get some recommendations.

We are looking for something nice- We really like all types of food.
Want a good meal and nice atmosphere.

Something in the price range of the teens to upper twenties.

Also looking for a good breakfast place for the next morning. Nice breakfast restaraunt.

Any help?

Franklin Street in Chapel Hill

411 for dinner

Next morning go up a couple blocks still on Franklin to the Carolina Coffee Shop

CH has the best quiche in the US I hear.

Franklin Street is definitely the place for restaurants in Chapel Hill.

There was a French restaurant on Rosemary, which is behind Franklin. Not a bad spot if you like French food.

PS. It isn’t cheap.

my brother worked at 411 until he graduated last spring. Said it was a very nice place to eat.

The “in” place right now seems to be Bonne Soiree in Chapel Hill. I think the entrees range from $20s and up. I have met the owners and have dined in their prior establishments in Raleigh and OBX. Its a small place where the owners are there everyday (Chip cooking in the kitchen and Tina working the door). Search on Bonne Soiree Chapel Hill and read some reviews.

Otherwise, there’s always Top of the Hill which is decent and the have some great Beer they make in house. La Residence i think is the french place on Rosemary.

I was looking at the Fearrington House right outside in Pittsboro. Anyone ever eat there?

For as much as we hate CH, this thread cracks me up.

Magnolia’s Grill in Durham of 9’th street (next to Duke) I think is what you are looking for…

It's my understanding its a bit out of your original price range by 3x or more.

ditto that.

If the food is your primary goal I like Crook’s Corner. Nice place, but not too fancy. The late owner, Bill Neal’s ex-wife owns La Residence, or she used to.

Top of the Hill always has good poon

The only 5 star restaurant in NC, I’ve heard. Wait staff hovers over you. Meals are all the same price; about $60 apiece. Stay in the inn, visit the shops, and have breakfast in the less expensive restaurant run by the same people. Enjoy it once.

If you’re at Fearrington, you must visit the belted cows and the fainting goats. Top of the Hill is a safe choice.
