Great Basketball Movies

What good basketball movies do you know?

Back in the day, films about the NBA used to be great. This is one have watched since I was a kid. Absloute great film, back when the game was good. This has Marv Albert and Frank Layden as the hosts. They make a great pair. The film is very funny, very entertaining, and very well put together.

The name is “Dazzling Dunks and Basketball Bloopers”. I think its from around 1991.

These two clips give you a good idea of what its about.

This is pretty much the opening. Gives you a good idea about the whole film.

I think this is the one that showed the dunk off between Nique and Jordan. Watching that just gives me chills and brings back so many memories.

I highly recommend “Glory Road”, the true story about the Texas Western (now UTEP) team that won the National Championship in the 60’s.

It doesn’t have the high flying NBA style non-defended dunks, etc, but it is filled with some very historical college basketball moments, including the one specific game that may have had the most effect on our current modern-day game.

Yes it is. It is crazy to watch that. Both so good and such a good rivalry. I wish it was still like that.

I wondered how long that was gonna take… Space Jam anyone?

What’s the one with Ray Allen? “He Got Game” or something like that.

Well I’m actually talking about NBA films rather than motion pictures. But whatever. Sall good.

Sorry, next time I’ll pay better attention. Then how about anything with Jordan in it. I believe it was called “Michael Jordan - Come Fly with Me.” (1989)

Blue Chips.
